A Florida judge has tossed out a bizarre motion from a man who claimed he wanted to marry his "porn filled Apple computer."

Marc Sevier claimed that after buying a laptop without porn filters, he became addicted to pornography, "fell in love" with his computer, and preferred "having sex with it over all other persons or things."

If gay people "have the right to marry their object of sexual desire, even if they lack corresponding sexual parts," he said, "then I should have the right to marry my preferred sexual object."

Sevier who was banned from practicing law in Tennessee in 2011 due to "mental infirmity or illness" has a history of weird lawsuits, Gawkernotes. He sued Apple for selling him the computer he now wants to marry, tried to sue A&E for suspending Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson, and is currently trying to intervene in Utah's gay-marriage debate on behalf of those who "prefer sex with inanimate objects and animals

Once IBM gets Debater up and running for commercial use, might not be too far off from a normal union.

I'm guessing this may not have been a big issue for him.

You just know that any story that starts with the phrase "Florida Man" or "Florida Woman" is gonna be good. GB that redneck backwater.

Obviously, this is a rather absurd case and should rightfully be tossed out, but it does raise interesting issues we may need to wrestle with in the future. I can easily envision a time when man and machine become fairly integrated with each other. Consider artificial limbs...not just aesthetic parts but ones that fully "communicate" and function in sync with the owner's brain...consider medical replacement parts that take over the function of a human organ...consider integrated computer chips/technology that supplement the human intellect. At what point would a human cease to be considered human? I don't have an easy answer to that, but I can envision a time when the lines of distinction could become significantly blurred.
