Forget Madden , Who Will Grace the Cover of The FootballGuys.com Mag ? (1 Viewer)

Braylon Edwards - Growing popularity among fantasy enthusiasts is the play of fantasy WRs. Edwards is the poster child of the new interest
Brandon Marshall - With Cecil Lammey's connections and the great action shots in a Denver uniform, this could be a good possibility, especially if Javon Walker skips town
Marion Barber - plenty of great action shots to choose from, great uniform, flowing hair under the helmet - looks good to me
Adrian Peterson - will be on several covers, which means he likely won't grace the FBG 2008 cover
DeAngelo Williams - Talk about a gutsy prediction. This would be a shocker, but we'd come out smelling like a rose if we were right
Devin Hester - If only he had more offensive chances
Ronnie Brown - Comeback trail = great story. Many will forget just how good he was. We'll make you remember
Brian Westbrook - consistency & fantasy greatness - hard to ignore that

Santonio Holmes would be an interesting choice as well, he might have had a top 10 season if he had stayed healthy.

How about the action shot of Moss not catching what would have been the record TD?

And then on the inside, you can have the catch.

Great topic, and one that we have a lot of fun discussing amongst ourselves each year when it's time to put the magazine together.

As an Eagles homer, I would love it if Westbrook made the cover; but we've kind of done the "small, multi-purpose" RB thing a few years running...and I figure putting the Patriots on the cover would piss off 90% of our subscriber base :goodposting: so that leaves out Brady or Moss.

I guess if I had to vote now, it would be:

1) Westbrook

2) AD

3) Addai

4) Tomlinson

5) Favre [if he comes back in 2008]

Brian Westbrook taking an knee at the one...that's FF
:fishing: I like that one.Of course, in summer, a mag should be trying to dell owners it's all bout them and skills and management.(Once December rolls around, it's all luck. It's all a crapshoot. Stuff like that (kneeldown) happen all the time.)

I've already suggested to Joe and the powers-that-be that I could drum up an interview with a Dallas Cowboy if they desired. I live here in the Dallas area and have done several interviews for a music magazine. It really wouldn't be any different. That being said, as mentioned before in the "list", Marion Barber would be interesting. Although he is actually shy, believe it or not, and I wouldn't be so sure he'd be willing. On the other hand, Jason Witten would probably be happy to do it. He's very media friendly. Romo will see to many covers as it is.

We'll see...

Tom Brady. But if they want to have a different cover than the other magazines I could see them putting Westbrook on it since they have gone against the grain in the past by using Tiki and FWP.

are we implying that there is now a jinx associated with being on the cover of this magazine, vis a vis what happened to W Parker? ...similar to that attached to the Madden Football picture? if so i would hesitate to put anyones name forward...

but given the year he has had, i would think T Brady would be hands down no 1 candidate...

tex

One year does not make a curse. But if it happens again....So to test it I suggest whoever be on the cover should be young and have no real injury history so we can evaluate it with the least amount of variables.

I'd like to see Favre. He has received alot of criticism from fans, media etc. They all thought he should retire for having two subpar seasons. Then he comes back, his 17th year in the league and 38 years old, and lights the world on fire again like he had been doing it all along. Pretty amazing stuff, I never saw this coming from him, I thought he was done and just not letting go like alot of aging players do.

This was the year of the passer and the receiver. This was the year of the Patriots. Brady set the passing TD record. Moss not only came back from two years of fantasy hell, he broke the receiving TD record. How do you leave out either?

Maybe this pic for the cover:

Because 90% of Footballguys subscribers hate them? And the rest of the nation will have them on covers of everything, I'm sure FBG don't want to just "just like the rest"

OK, that's fair. So let's be different and put someone on the cover that no one else is. Here ya go:fantasy football nerd

That was my thought process as well. Nothing against Brady or Moss, but I can see FBG wanting to stand out. I too thought about Santonio Holmes, but that would be two yrs in a row having a Steeler.

Have to concur with Westbrook kneeling at the one here. I think it hits the target audience perfectly, and at least gives everyone who would be interested in the magazine to take a second look when they see it on the shelves. Every FF owner remembers that play.

It would be a great shot for marketing purposes.

no love for Portis? :lmao:
I have great love for Portis. But not an interesting enough cover guy IMO.
His story was quite interesting this year. FBG had him above most other publications, wasn't too worried about Betts, and he finished top-5.The tagline could read: "Why sifting through coachspeak can help you dominate your league" or something like that.

It will probably be someone that FBGs expect to signigicantly outperform their projected ADP.

My shortlist would be:

Ryan Grant

Marshawn Lynch

Brandon Jacobs

Andre Johnson

I need a recording of that. Maybe it should be available as a .wav or .avi file and sound when you open his rankings. For the cover, maybe Mike Martz with a blur of his new teams receivers in the backround.

Chaos Commish started beating the drum about this guy last January. The Hula Bowl performance really cinched it, he truly looked like a man among boys. CC felt like he was the best WR in the draft, I was very close to that, I certainly felt he was the most likely to be a #1 WR of the whole 06 class, but CC deserves a ton of props here for being even more certain than I was. Fast forward to the draft, and we go the first day without Marshall's name being called. Im sitting in Radio City at the draft when his name finally gets called in the 4th by the Broncos. The excitement overtook me and I let out something like the shriek the crowd of schoolgirls made for the Beatles and Stones back in the day. Then a few minutes later when I saw Schefter I ran up to him rabidly talking about how the Broncos just got the steal of the draft and how is he is the next TO... Schefter calms me down and asks me to slow down and tell him again about this steal of the draft. :goodposting: What I can say, I'm an excitable boy (RIP Zevon)

Ask and ye shall...

I like this game.

The FFG magazine cover has been heretofore a player somewhat overlooked in the mainstream football press, who you could reasonably make your overall #1 in the draft, but is not the consensus #1 in the general fantasy world, and has an interesting personal story. Tiki and FWP were perfect for this. I think in the end Westbrook fits the bill, but I would also consider Ronnie Brown.

To go in a different direction -- what about featuring the player who had the greatest overall fantasy impact in 2007? The guy who generated the most value over draft position not just for himself but also for his teammates? The guy from whom you want to know -- can you all do it again? How about -- Joe Thomas?? The common denominator of the great draft values to be had from Braylon Edwards, KWII, Derek Anderson, and Jamal Lewis. Sharks know its all about the offensive line....

Think different!

That says Steven Jackson to me

My Suggestions...

Larry Fitz

Braylon Edwards

Joseph Addai

Steven Jackson

Jason Witten

Adrian Peterson
we've interviewed Edwards and Witten on the Audible. There are several players from around the league that I text/talk to regularly. Joe Addai is one of those players, and would have an early lead for the cover IMHO.
