Forsett? (1 Viewer)

not hearing much bout this guy. with everyone projecting spiller to hawks, he can be had cheap. played very well last year, and carroll knows what he can do after forsett put up 150 against usc while he was at cal. runs bigger than he is. thoughts?

I liken him to Warrick Dunn. He runs much bigger than his weight. I expect Seattle to invest in a RB in the draft. It'll depend on who they to determine how much of a dent his value takes.

He's been on my team a while. He's a definite hold. I honestly don't know why Seattle would grab Spiller who is another undersized guy when they've already got Forsett. Couple that with the simple fact that RB is not a premium position and it adds up to Seattle taking an offensive lineman. Clausen wouldn't surprise me either.

I read this today from John Morgan at Fieldgulls.

It's crazy, and my timing is terrible, but I am more excited for the second year of Aaron Curry, the second year of Max Unger, the sixth year of Chris Spencer, the third year of John Carlson, the third year and hopefully first year starting for Justin Forsett -- the guys that were once prospects but graduated to something more interesting, exciting and important. You know, real NFL players and not fantasies.
I agree with him wholeheartedly. I think people place WAY too much emphasis on players being drafted when projecting what will happen next season. Hope turns into fantasy more often than not with the average fan.All this said, time will tell. If Seattle passes on Spiller in the first Thursday I believe its a ringing endorsement for Forsett. I don't see Jones as being a guy that the new regime will learn on. However, if Seattle takes a stab at Spiller/Mathews/Best it will certainly cut into Forsett's opportunities to establish himself.

Regardless, there are about three or four steps that need to fall into place for Forsett to get a chance to start this coming season. Getting through the draft without adding major competition for touches is just one of them.

Full Disclosure - Forsett owner in an IDP dynasty league -I'm crossing my fingers and toes that Seattle doesn't draft one of the "premium" prospects this week. I think Forsett has game and should get a shot at starting. Agree with Hooper31 that Jones is NOT the answer, so it's either Forsett headlining in 2010 with some other role players in for 6-10 touches a game or some sort of RBBC situation. Obviously, I would prefer the first option.

Forsett has the skills to be a 20-touch back week in and week out. Say 14-16 carries and 4-5 targets/receptions per game. In today's NFL, that's a solid RB2 in fantasy terms, IMO...

I'm a forsett owner too. If Spiller's gone, I think a pairing of Forsett/Gerhart or something along those lines would be a formidable pairing.

i just dont see why SEA is targeting a RB so early anyway... there are bigger needs in many other places. WR, OL, QB, DE, CB, S i think are all bigger points of emphasis than rb in the draft.

a post circa 11-30-2009, during his emergence...

120+ rushing yards in two of the last three games (and it should be added, each time he had DD carries), at least a TD in each and four total in that span.

in his "bad" game, he had 80 receiving yards and 1 TD.

* from the week 11 ETTG...

Justin Forsett

Forsett has been discussed a lot this week after a rib injury to feature RB Julius Jones (a bruised chest, not a broken rib as originally feared, but reportedly with bleeding in the lungs, requiring hospital observation... he has already been ruled out for week 11, but could return the following week) against Arizona led to the biggest opportunity so far in his young career. Until Sunday, he had never carried the ball more than six times in a game. Forsett had 123 yards on 17 carries (averaging 7.2 yards per carry in the process) and an 11 yard rushing TD, along with 26 receiving yards on 5 catches. This was all the more impressive in that the Cards entered the game as one of the statistically best defenses in the league against the run in 2009. While his size has been questioned (5'8" 195 lbs. - same height as Ray Rice and 10 lbs. lighter if accurate, but the height may even be generous), he is a little stick of dynamite that willingly hits the hole hard, has deceptive strength, is capable of breaking arm tackles and plays bigger than his size... Forsett's 26 reps of 225 lbs. was among the top strength displays for his position at the Combine (and better than some LBs and even linemen!). While he may not have the compact power of might mite NFL stars Rice and MJD, he also has a nice power to size ratio, leverage advantage and difficulty in tracking (hard to hit what you can't see). Size concerns extended back to college, where Notre Dame allegedly withdrew a scholarship at the last second and home state Texas reportedly didn't extend a scholarship for the same reason (he had nearly 5,000 yards and 63 TDs his final two years as a prep). Cal signed him late in the recruiting process on the strength of his game tape and a tip by alumni and former RB great Chuck Muncie. He was behind future first round RB Marshawn Lynch (among others) in his first three seasons at Cal, but finished strong, with 1,500+ yards and 15 TDs as a senior (leading the Pac 10 conference in rushing TDs, and second in rushing yards to another future first round RB, Jonathan Stewart). The Seahawks front office and coaching staff have roots in ATL and TB, where they experienced organizational success with "undersized" RB Warrick Dunn, as well as HoF caliber defenders at every level, such as DT Warren Sapp, WLB Derrick Brooks and CB Ronde Barber. Like Dunn, he flashes excellent vision, natural run instincts, burst and shiftiness. He has arguably had a larger big play impact than Jones when accounting for his relatively far more limited opportunities. This week is a tough assignment against the Vikings, with three Pro Bowlers on the DL, a Pro Bowl caliber MLB and maybe the best tackling CB tandem in the league, but the schedule gets easier the following week with the Rams on deck. Forsett is just 24 (Jones 28).

i just dont see why SEA is targeting a RB so early anyway...
Who says they are targeting a RB so early? And why do you believe them?
just about every mock ive seen has seattle taking spiller... and i have no idea why.
And how often are the mock right because every year they are off yet people still use them to believe where a player is going. What if Miami or another teams takes Spiller will Seattle just take any rb to say they got on or wait and take one later. I think when your adding a player or want to add a player don't use mocks to talk yourself out of it.

That makes more sense. When I read "Seattle is..." I somehow took it to mean that you had information that indicated you knew what their intentions were for the draft. Is this a better read on what you were intended to convey?..... "i just dont see why ALL THE MOCK DRAFTS ARE targeting a RB for SEA so early anyway...I believe part of the rationale there is that they simply don't have very many RBs on the roster at the moment and people expect them to add RB or two through the draft. The same can be said for their OL. They barely had enough to run drills during their first OTA last week.

If they were interested in a RB in the first, I'd think they'd opt for one of the bigger backs to pair with Forsett.

great post bob... :hot:

i just traded brandon jacobs and 2.13 for forsett and 2.03 in my .5ppr 12 team dynasty, so he can be had for very cheap. my #1 sleeper heading into the season as long as SEA doesnt take a high profile back in the first 2 rounds

Just made a large trade and Forset was part of the deal.

I currently own the 1.03 pick

Justin Forset

1.10

I like Forset a lot and think he is the sleeper in this deal. This is one team I am rebuilding as well. But with a some homeruns in the draft can squeak into the post season.

Forset looked the part of a good west coast type of back. Great hands, great quickness....reminds me of Warrick Dunn.

Todem,

Not sure Forsett can be considered a large part of the deal, but more a large reason why you made this deal.

DeSean >= 1.2

McCoy = Maclin

2.3 = Keller

Bess = Hightower

To me, you got Forsett and the 1.10 for free here.

I think they pluck J. McKnight in round 2.
I just feel like they're after a larger, chain-moving type back. No one their roster is really a short-yardage type. Carroll has said he wants a physical presence at RB, and has indicated that he wants to spread carries around. At #60 (2.28), there are a few candidates available: Dixon, Gerhart, Hardesty. I doubt Dwyer drops. Blount would be available later than the 2nd and has a tie to the NW, but the 'Hawks don't subsequently pick until 104 (4.06). Are they willing to wait on RB when they still need DL help? I'd like to see them wind up with Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, but 60 might be too high for him.

Seattle has two 4ths and two 5ths (both early 5ths). I won't be surprised to see them move back into the 3rd round. I think they are situated well to remain flexible. When they see a player they covet slide down they will have a golden opportunity to trade back up to grab their guy. If the guy is a RB I think it will speak volumes.

So who is left to pair with Forsett?

Rookies:

Dwyer

Dixon

Vets:

Lynch

Lendale

Redskins RB

I would think only Lynch "could" hurt Forsett's value :shrug:

I have to think Dwyer is high on the Sea board tomorrow; the only team that would be considering an RB is the Bucs.

If they don't take Dwyer, they may wait and grab someone like Blount, Dixon, Stafon Johnson, McKnight. Still lots of choices out there for them IMO. It's a deep RB draft, though no one left is a sure thing obviously.

He's supposedly not on the trade block, but McGahee is a possibility.

Last I heard he is, but now that BUF has drafted Spiller, it has ruined their bargaining power.
One personnel director tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that he's sure the Bills would be "willing to take whatever at this point" for Marshawn Lynch."They've got too many guys and they're trying to move him, but I don't know if there's much activity," said the executive. "He just doesn't want to be there. Just not a good situation." This is similar to a report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen, who tweeted earlier in the day that "Lynch has to be a goner ... Couldn't give him away is what I've been told." Seattle remains the most likely landing spot, but it doesn't sound like they'd give up much for him.

Forset looks even better now....Fatdale is so mediocore...goaline carries...yes...not much else though.

Let the BS trades for Lendale begin. Start shopping him while you can...because that market will thin quite quick once the season starts rolling.

I tend to agree. I don't see White as much of a threat.

What about Leon? LOL
MUCH more of a threat. I think the Forsett hype engine just seized up.

couldnt have asked for much better than this. they were clearly going to address rb somehow, im just happy they did it with a fat ### and a guy coming off a shattered leg. forsett will win this job, white wont be there long

Think seattle made some nice moves today getting Lendale and Leon. Not sure where this leaves Forsett. Leon coming off a nasty fractured leg so will be interesting to see how he comes back

everyone keep up with the lenwhale jokes..........obviously u haven't seen him lately. it wasn't his weight or talent/play that kept him off the field last year. a guy going crazy for 2k and fitting perfectly with Vince Young talents is the reason Lendale wanted out. Lendale will resume his role in the White/Bush(Leon/Justin forsett) role. Lendale never lacked for talent...........he lacked effort/professionalsim

Don't sell LenWhale short. In 2008, he and Chris Johnson had a good thing going. CJ had 250 carries for 1200 yards and 9 TDs, but LenWhale had nearly 800 yards on only 200 carries and 15 TDs. LenWhale COULD have contributed last year if Fisher would have given him a shot. But why would you when you have a weapon like CJ?

But, Forsett is no CJ, so I could see a similar duo of Forsett and LenWhale in 2010, much like the CJ and LenWhale duo of 2008. Maybe 50/35 split with Leon getting the other 15%?

LenWhale is not a burner, but he is a beast on the inside and a true TD vulture. I could actually see the two players end with similar stats.

I mean fantasy points. Forsett more yards, LenWhale more TDs.

Lendale is buy low IMO; who do you think Pete is going to stuff down everyone's throat.

I would be shocked if Washington doesn't outscore Forsett. If Washington isn't healthy yet, that's one thing, but he is much more explosive than Forsett. Forsett's a nice player but Leon is a home run hitter and perfect to pair with White.

Carroll on ESPN now - sees Leon as an electrifying player who will form a great 1-2 punch with LenDale. Super excited about Leon as a playmaker and a tough, character guy.

Looks clear to me Leon/LenDale will get the bulk of the work here, a la Bush/White at USC. Forsett looks to have become buried on the depth chart. Julius Jones is gone.

It will start Forsett/LenWhale but it might end Leon/LenWhale.

Leon won't be 100% by the start of the season. And even if he is, they will ease him back.

Time will tell.....a shame if Forset is not given the opportunity...he earned it last year. But new regime...they always turnover the roster etc etc. But I have my doubts about White.

Right before the draft I sent LenDale and Tanard Jackson packing for a 2.11 rookie pick in an IDP league...I had a strong feeling White would end up in Seattle...but never thought it would actually happen...should have figured something was going to happen after Seattle passed on Spiller...

Forsett is looking like a nice RB2, especially in PPR. He is better than people think. He topped Profootballfocus elusive rating and seems underrated. Watching highlights of him, I'm surprised by the power he brings. Check him out at 0.16 in this vid:

Justin Forsett

He brings alot to the table.

I'm a good friend of Justin's uncle, DeWayne. Trust me when I say Justin Forsett is the purest definition of a fantasy sleeper there is. He will be on all 3 of my fantasy teams... I guarantee it.
