Forte vs Gore (1 Viewer)

Who has the edge?

Pros for Gore:

- Shouldering full load for the 49ers. One of the only productive every down backs left in the game.

- Better O-line than Chicago

-Easier schedule

Cons:

-Always seems to get injured

-Has had many carries over the years

-Potentially horrid passing game

Pros for Forte:

-Good defense = more runs (won't fall behind as often as SF)

-Heavily involved in passing game

- only 25 yrs old

Cons:

-Tougher schedule

-Sometimes Martz abandons the run

-Marion Barber potentially stealing GL carries (although as a past Barber owner for several years I say he is very overrated in short yardage)

Any thoughts?

Noticed in the 3rd preseason game that Forte was getting GL carries, would this continue in the regular season?
Historically Lovie hasn't used a 'goal line back'. Whoever was the guy that possession stays in at the red zone/goal line. So I wouldn't be surprised to continue to see that, with Barber getting 3 possessions a game and Forte getting the rest. With our OLine, Barber isn't going to have any more success with 1 yard to go as anyone else anyway.

Do you think the O-line has regressed now that they lost Kreutz?

I ranked Forte the #9 overall RB and Gore #15 in PPR.

Reasons:

Chicago has a much better team and will have more production overall.

Chicago is likely to have more RB reception production in classic Mike Martz fashion, and Forte is an extremely productive recieving tailback.

Forte is younger.

Gore has shown the inability to play a full season, unlike Forte.

I am not as high on Barber as some folks seem to be. He has slowed down considerably, likely due to his tough running style. I don't see him getting too much more love in however much time he plays this season than Chester Taylor did last year, although many of Barber's opportunities will likely be short-yardage.

Admittedly I am lower on Gore than most this season.

I think its a wash with losing him and adding Carimi. Kruetz was good but not the all pro he used to be 5 years ago. Plus we didn't have far down to go. But on the whole, losing your center can really impact a team especially at first, so its possible that Forte could start the year with a couple down games.

Hopefully their new line had enough time in the limited time in camp to gel
