Forward Rankings Question (1 Viewer)

In the past, I've always assumed that the Forward 250+ rankings come from Dodds, but when looking at the overall rankings using his data in the Lineup Dominator, I see that players are ranked much differently. In most cases it is minor, but in some cases, a player will be ranked 15-20 spots high in one as opposed to the other.

So, I have a simple question.

1. Who produces the 250+ rankings.

2. When selecting either Dodds or Bloom's projections in the lineup dominator, would their rankings be their individual forward projections, or a mix of a number of people?

I always weight Bloom's rankings higher than others, because I tend to agree with him more often. Could I use his projections in the lineup dominator to have a list of forward rankings, or am I confused about the way they are created?

1. Dodds/Bloom do the (current) weekly projections. I do the forward projections that start with the current week+1 thru the rest of the season. The Custom Top 250+ is a combination of both since it uses both the current week's projection and the year forward projections. 2. It's actually a mix per above. The projections for the year forward projections won't change when you select Bloom or Dodds, what changes is the current week's projections which is part of the overall year forward projections. The N+1 > Week 17 are the same.Does that help?

Yes, that does answer things. Thank you. I do have a follow-up though...How are the rankings determined on the lineup dominator? For instance, the Dodds setting shows Santana Moss as the #8 WR, while Bloom shows him as #14. For the 250+, it has him at #15. I'm trying to figure out where the rankings come from.

Actually Dodds told me Henry did the forward rankings in a response on my Dexter McCluster thread.

Also, the custom top 200 forward rankings heavily weigh what they're projected to do this week. If a player is on bye, they are ranked lower. You will see a player with less projected points going forward ranked higher than a player with more points projected going forward simply because he is on bye.
No, it doesn't. The "rest of year" is starting the week after the coming week. The players are still ranked by their total points going forward.

As with life, I also notice the top 250 changes each week with trends...there is no exact science. Gronkowski looked great a couple weeks ago in the top 250, now he is back to earth. I notice the changes. Steve Smith, CAR keeps climbing...

The top 250 changes weekly - it's like predicting the stock market with a ton of variables.

Ahhhh, I'm an idiot.

Definitely, this. I equate the forward projections to doing pre-season projections for all 32 teams. It's not quite like doing them all from scratch, but it's finding the right balance between what our expectations and beliefs are for players going forward versus what we have seen and the games played have shown us statistically.

FBG forward rankings is the most valuable tool I use. It determines my trades, waiver pickups and evaluating the stock of my players. These guys know what they are doing. Keep up the good work.

Ugh....I've got a guy in my league who lives and dies with the 250+ forward when talking about trades. It's annoying because I think the rankings are affected by the past too much.

It's just confusing when looking at the 250+ and I see a guy ranked at #50, then on the lineup dominator app, a player will be ranked at #25 for Doods and #30 for Bloom. Just trying to figure out who makes all of the different projections, since it sounds like the ranking numbers on Dodds and Bloom's lineup projections file isn't created by them..

Disclaimer: one year bump here.

I'm with steelwinds who loves this report! A couple of wishes for 2012:

1) Have it out on Tuesdays! I know, I know, it's early in the week and there's not enough time, lack of information or even just laziness, but it really helps for waivers and initiating trades. If things change throughout the week, then update it.

2) When a player moves up or down from week to week, it would be nice to have directional arrow beside the player so we can see where they are trending. In addition, a small blurb beside players name on why they are trending would be great.

I know this will take a bit more time, but not as much as you would thing (assuming there's decent thought put into these rankings). Anyways, considering that many use this tool, I thought that some feedback would be beneficial.

Hopefully a staff member will read this and comment accordingly.

This was scheduled for Wednesday, then bumped to Thursday, then bumped to Friday, then dropped from the schedule. Is it going to show up next week?
