Foster Next Year (1 Viewer)

Arian Foster will be a RFA in 2012. Most of the discussion on these boards is about his injury, Tate possibly challenging him etc. Which is understandable. But I wonder what happens next year.

Here's my most controversial premise - Foster's talent is not as impressive as his production. I think he is a top-10 talent, but not top 5. He is a disciplined runner who is better than average in all the categories you look for in a RB (speed, strength, vision, agility etc). However, Houston's scheme and O-line is just amazing. Tate could likely step in without Foster and replicate most of Foster's success. Hell, Ward looked very impressive in this offense.

Caveat - I grabbed him of WW at the end of 2009 in my main dynasty league, and he was by far my best move in the last 3 years. I love this cat.

Let's assume 3 things...

1. Foster heals from the hammy and there is no major injury that would scare anyone from signing him.

2. He has a great year with whatever amount of touches he gets.

3. Tate looks impressive too with whatever touches he gets.

If Foster is kept, he has Tate there. If he goes elsewhere, he will likely have a downgrade in scheme. If my main premise is correct, he will not replicate his production in Houston if he goes elsewhere.

The hammy doesn't bother me too much. It's moving forward, and whether or not he will ever have a higher value in dynasty than right now.

Thought?

Edited to RFA.

fairly certain Arian Foster will still be an Exclusive Rights Free Agent next season or at worst a RFA. Quit reading after the inaccurate info

It means Texas has option to match any offer and/or receive compensation from other team signing him, in addition to any contract he signs. Basically, he's not a free agent.

If Houston makes the playoffs... and Arian stays healthy and helps in getting them there.... He will be resigned to a new juicy-### contract.

Kubiak will have solid job assurance, and LOVES Foster... he will keep his boy there.
