Not even in the discussion....
Hmm. Two WS titles and quite possibly about to win a third, plus one WS that ended an 86 year drought, playoff appearances every year but one since 2004, 9-1 in elimination games, 9-0 in LCS elimination games, twice brought teams back from 3-1 down including once from 3-0 and likely about to do it again from 3-1, dealt with some of the biggest personalities in baseball history and seamlessly integrated them within the team, and has managed to appease some of the most demanding fans in sports.Oh and he has been such a great guy about all of it that he's become an official "Red Sox guy that you can't hate because he's too good of a guy", a very rare occurence (see also Mike Lowell).I'd say he's most certainly in the discussion and vaults to the elite if Boston can win tonight and then beat Philly.

He was awesome for the Phillies....

Just joking.....that team sucked ### when he was with them. But the argument against him will always be that payroll. Granted, his team has made some crazy comebacks, but the better paid players should play well when the pressure is on.

Swap manny's albatross contract with Jason Bay's and it's not that out of control. Going into the season they were 4th in payroll.

Well I guess if we're looking to the future.....maybe.....but right now. No.
