Frank Gore Breaks Hand; Will Miss A Month (1 Viewer)

This could be a blessing in disguise. A broken hand with no tendon damage should heal just fine, and he'll be fresh and ready to dominate the regular season. This will be a dream for people who draft in the second half of the 1st round, a real chance to grab him later than he should go.
Cold hard truth is likely that Ds will go after that hand if they have a chance though. Know what I mean?Fumbling woes might crop up.

The one thing I've never understood this offseason on these boards, is how people can rationally have Gore ranked more than 1 slot ahead of Portis. And this was before the news that he just broke his hand. At this point, unless Portis experiences some sort of new injury, I think you're nuts to have Gore ranked ahead of Portis this year.-- Gore 2 blown knees in the past, Portis 0, had some knee tendinitis earlier this summer, but appears fully recovered. Advantage Portis.-- Gore recovering from 2 torn labrums a year ago, Portis recovering from 1 last season. Even.-- Gore breaks hand yesterday and will likely miss entire preseason, Portis broke hand last year and is fully recovered. Advantage Portis.-- Gore has fumbling issues, Portis doesn't. Advantage Portis.-- Gore loses Norv Turner from last year, Portis is in year 2 of Al Saunders system. Advantage Portis.-- Gore's load will reportedly be lightened this year, Portis will get breathers from Betts. Even.Even if you tweak one of two of the advantages I laid out, they're still virtually even. And when you factor in that the Redskins offense should be among the most improved in the league this year (people underestimate how wretched Brunell was last year and Campbell will be a huge upgrade. Plus everyone is familiar with Saunders offense now) Portis is almost certainly going to be the best value pick in the first 2 rounds this year.
How bout that Gore is just a better RB than Portis?

We'll at least he has his left hand as a body part that hasn't been blown so far.Left Knee - Torn ACLRight Knee - Torn ACLLeft Shoulder - BlownRight Shoulder - BlownRight hand - BrokenAm i missing any other injuries he's had? I though i remember a foot/ankle injury from college, but not sure as he had so many injuries it gets confusing.I think he is a solid pick in a re-draft, but extremely over-valued in dynasty leagues. There is no precedent for a guy who has had so many major injuries, how a body can hold up long-term with that injury history is unknown, and therefore very risky.
:( What's amazing is that he never gets label injury prone. History tells another story. He has one good season and he's the #3-#5 rb, but let's ignore his habbit of being injured through-out his football career.

Who ignores it? It's all people talk about with this guy.

Today's update.

Gore broke a bone in the hand in a noncontact drill Monday morning. He will have a cast put on the hand this coming Monday to allow him to practice. He will not practice until then.
The last sentence may be true in a technical sense, but in the same article this was noted:
Gore did some light work in noncontract drills Tuesday morning and spent the afternoon sprinting up a berm on an 8- to 10-percent incline at the edge of the practice field.
The day after he breaks his hand, and as of yet with no cast on, he's participating on some level in practices. He's certainly not taking time off, or even just standing around on the sidelines. I still say he'll be back to fully participating in TC next week.

It's just a ploy to motivate Michael Robinson.
Oh I thought it was another ploy by Shanahan to motivate one of the Bells. That Shanahan, still trying to motivate the Bells even though he's only got one left. He's a genius!!BTW I wonder how long it will take before Mike Bell and Travis Henry are switching starting roles every week. :bye:

At which point he will fracture a pelvis, which will somehow be construed as good news to some fantasy owners

Yet those same people justify Gore as a top 3 pick and keep pi$$ing on Portis as a 1st round pick.

I'm a fan of both rb's this year but Gore doesn't have a rb behind him that outperformed him last year. Betts did a better job than Portis last season. Not only that, Gore had a truly great season. If it weren't for LT's touchdown record and LJ's insane number of carries he is all everyone would be talking about. Portis hasn't done anything jaw dropping in awhile.

You think Portis has done anything jaw-dropping lately?Fantasy Football is a "what have you done for me lately" hobby. Portis is a good RB, maybe even a 1st Round RB, but it would be silly to draft him ahead of Gore.

I could care less where you want to draft Portis. To say that Betts is better is laughable.

He didn't say he was better, he said he did a better job last year. Which is just a fact. Ughhhhhhhhhh this thing between Gore and Portis is soooooo over.
