Fred Davis Thoughts? (1 Viewer)

T with T

Footballguy
Thru 2 games he has 38 points in ppr. 100 yards and 86 yards.. Looks like a complete stud for a te. Do you fellow sharks think he will be a top 5 te and be a stud like he is now or do you think this is a few lucky weeks. I have J. Graham as my starter but Davis on waiver and im trying to pair him with Graham. I like Davis and think he could be a stud.

yup same here and I dont think he is a fluke. Shanny likes to use his TE's and grossman has a great rapport with him.

I like Davis a lot. He's the #2 receiving option in that offense right now. He's made a bunch of big plays so far and is a big reason why they are 2-0. I don't see how he's not a fixture in their offense going forward. I was hesitant to cut Jared Cook, who I also like a lot, but I'm glad I did. Helped me to a win this week.

Seeing as how Cooley is hurting, Grossman loves throwing it to him and how he produced last year when Cooley was out, it doesn't surprise me at all. I'm looking to add him for Winslow in one league tonight via waivers. Doubt he makes it to me, but he would still be as a backup for me. For those who need a TE, grab him if he's available.

I just picked him up and plan on using him occasionally in the flex (no mandatory TE)

The guy has serious skills.

He was great when Cooley went down back in 09. I'm glad he's getting opportunities again even w/ Cooley somewhat healthy. I believe he's a legitimate starter and should do great for the remainder of the season.

Thanks for the analysis guys, I hope to get him but I have last waiver priority in a 12 team so I doubt I get him. Would u go as far as to start Davis over Graham in ppr if he was to slip to me?

I'd still rather have Graham. I heard a pretty good stat on Davis though. His 191 receiving yards in his last 2 games are more than Chris Cooley has ever had in back-to-back games in his career.

In a non-mandatory TE league (PPR for TEs), but w/ 2 FLEX positions, a guy like Fred Davis really comes in handy. Especially since I lost Hernandez. It'll take a hefty blind bid to get him this week, but the guy is clearly a focal point of the offense. A must add, IMO, even in non-mandatory TE leagues.

Hype train leaving the station, derailed by week 5.
Barring injury, he'll continue to be a reliable TE in 10-14 team leagues. Probably not going to average 95 ypg, and will have an off-game or 3, but what TE doesn't? Gates got shut out this week.

I like him but am worried that cooley will siphon targets. Seems like he has had good stretches the last few years but cant put together a full season.

Will be getting him on waivers as I have top prority and need him Hernandez's injury. I hope Grossman can keep his starting gig. Don't know what Davis might look like with Beck in there.

That's also more than Fred Davis has ever had in back-to-back games. Cooley has seven career B2B games with more than 150 and two with more than 180. Davis - obvs - one for all of those cats.Great start this year, and picking up right where he left off in the half season or so he started two years ago. Ride him while he's hot, the trend is your friend. It is very, very unlikely you will get good value for him in a trade at this point, so hold and hope. You have to question if the pace will continue once CC is 100%.

Fred just needed the opportunity. It looks like he's finally getting it and he's two years older than his rookie breakout, better coach, etc.

I think this is the year to run 2 TEs if your lineup has a RB/WR/TE Flex spot. If you get two studs at TE like a Davis, Hernandez*, Graham, Gronk you can dominate in PPR. Year of the 2 starting TE lineup.

If/when Cooley gets healthy, does he become the #2 or does he push Davis back down? I'm lucky that my "Jared Cook development project" hasn't cost me any games yet, but I might have to dump his butt tonight. I would just hate to grab Davis, have Cooley get to 100%, and then watch as my leaguemate enjoys Jared Cook blow ups in the 2nd half of the season.

This is why fantasy football is fun. Decisions. Decisions.

I would consider Davis among the group of young, athletic TEs who are emerging in the league, and he has earned Rex Grossman's confidence early in the season. I do not expect Cooley's eventual return to diminish Davis' numbers significantly, although I would be surprised if Davis continues at this pace.I would be hesitant to release Cook. He has elite athletic skills, and I think he may yet prove to be a premiere talent at the TE position this season. I would hold a little longer if you are able.

I let Finley go for $60(RFA) and the 1.11 rookie pick and took Davis for $8 in a dynasty. I thought about trading Davis for Finley but think I like Davis better right now. That is probably crazy considering who the QB is but think Beck or Grossman will get the ball to him.He lost 15 pounds and is run blocking a lot better so he may be a top 5 TE this season.

He did well 2 years ago when Cooley went down but didn't get many throws last year and that was surprising.

Have you watched Davis play??????? He is a man amongst boys the past two games and is still very young. Like a poster earlier mentioned, He hasn't really had the opportunity. Opportunity is probably more important then talent its like 60-40, But Davis has both, and a Qb who loves to use him as a security blanket. Im really thinking about starting Davis over Graham. Im syked I had the last waiver priority in a 12 team and snatched D. Nelson, Danarius Moore- who I dropped after week 1, glad I got him back and F. Davis...... Stoked about that, thought I would be out on all for sure.

well surely you would think his numbers would come down a little bit. Currently in ppr he is avg 19 points per game and in a 15 week season not counting last two games, how I have my leagues set up in MFL he would have 285 points. That is like top 3 wr behind roddy and right up with LLOYD from 2010. Even if his numbers do dip to 14-15 avg he will still be a potential 230 point scoring te in PPR.

I just picked him up and am planning on playing on him over V. Davis this week.

It is all about targets and Fred is getting them and Vernon isn't

He is doing fantastic now but a couple of things I would be leery of is Cooley getting healthy and if/when there is a QB switch.

So far, we have seen the absolute best of Sexy rexy but we all know, for whatever reason, this is a guy that does this all the time during his career. He looks like a world beater for 3-4 weeks at a time and then completely goes into the tank. There IS a reason why a guy that started in the Super Bowl subsequently bounced around the league also. I'm not suggesting he hasn't fixed it all and will be solid (I don't know), but it Is something to be leery about and maybe consider if you had an option for a more known situation.

Also, the two games played so far have really opened the stage for these kinds of games. The Cardinals can't cause fear in the D-line and force teams to stay in and block and the giants are a train wreck in the secondary (Cards are too actually). So, I think it may take a couple of games against legit defenses to get a truer measure. Lookign at the schedule though, I kind of like the matchups.

Maybe I'm not up to date on this, but I thought that I read that Cooley would have to manage the pain in his knee all year long. If that is the case, maybe he won't be a threat to Davis after all.

I was able to get him off waivers today to cover for Hernandez. Once Aaron is back I can chose to keep Davis or Daniels. With out the TD last

week Daniels is dog food.

even if you have a stud TE on your roster....if Davis is available, you try to make room for him.....

I 'd rather have him scoring points on my bench than in somebody else's starting lineup...

I got a feeling Davis owners are going to feel the pain of drafting him where they did....he was the one TE ranked in the top 10 that I wanted absolutely nothing to do with...

I am bummed I missed him on waivers this week. I debated grabbing him last week but chose to give Collie another week. Snooze you lose

Now the question...I have Davis and Gates. Started Gates last week and got burned...go with Davis this week?

Have Gates currently, but I just don't know. Davis has performed every time he has gotten a chance.

Lucked out and snagged him. I will start him until things go poorly, which hopefully they won’t. Haven’t seen any Redskins games yet, so I’m looking forward to seeing him beast it under the lights on MNF.

Snagged Davis off waivers and now considering trying to move Finley. I know you shouldn't sell low, but I'm hoping Finley has enough name recognition to draw a good price still. I'd be shocked if Finley doesn't rebound, but is he going to be that much better than Davis? Seems like I could get enough value out of a trade for Finley to more than make up for the difference between the two.

Of course no one here cares about anyone else’s team, but I’d be interested to hear who everyone is starting Fred Davis over in a TE mandatory league. It should be a good barometer of how guys value him after his two solid games.

I’m starting him over Daniels and Gresham. Hoping Fred Davis is the answer so I can cut one of the former and just carry 2 TE.

Have him in all three of my leagues.

Starting over a hurt Hernandez, Pettigrew, Daniels.

Hernandez I got off the WW after trading away Witten.

Pettigrew I drafted in 10th+ round.

Daniels fell to round 9 so looked good at the time and he could still rebound.

So basically Davis could really shore up what is probably a weakness on many rosters right now if he can keep producing over the long haul. Not many TEs have really produced at their ADP thus far and many of the hyped guys haven't lived up to it as of yet.

Davis is on a heater right now though so might as well go hit or miss in all my leagues this week..

16-team league, TE mandatory.

chandler and davis on the WW. i'm hoping to land davis > chandler >scheffler to cover aaron hernandez.

ETA: we have a short bench...can only have 3 players, so most if not all teams only carry one TE

Sounds like a lot of you guys were fortunate enough to get him. Now that you have him, what would you look for in a trade? I'm trying to grab him from someone who already has Gronkowski, but I'm not really sure what level of player I should throw out there.

Starting Fred over Winslow anyone else?
Starting Davis over J. Graham, or at least for the moment he is in there, and Im leaning heavily towards it. Am I crazy???? Graham is avg 14 ppg and Davis 19, and he is getting targets, so numbers wise it looks like a good trade... 5 ppg is huge.

Depends on the league I guess, but as a Davis owner I would want more than someone would be willing to give up right now. He's had two good games to start and has a lot going for him. It'd be something you need to gauge with the owner to see how much he values Davis or if he just got him for the hell of it.

I was able to package davis with nelson and get Vincent jackson. So after 2 weeks, his value is pretty good to go after a stud player, especially if you have another strongTE on your team.

Sort of answering my own question, but I threw out an offer of Jacoby Ford for Davis and the owner accepted. He is a Raiders fan and thinks Ford will blow up this year...I think its possible too.
