Free agent RBs at the end of the 07 season? (1 Viewer)

I'm curious to know what might be available for the Seahawks next season.

Alexander blows. Drops on first contact and doesn't have the necessary burst to get though the line when there is a crease.

hi-lited some interesting ones.

Michael Turner is the name here that stands the greatest chance of landing a starting gig.

Julius Jones is probably the next in line, but seems destined for another RBBC or, at best, a chance to compete

I'm sure I'm missing others, but seemingly no one else of real substance.

Thanks for the info.

For Seattle I like Chris Brown best in that list. Two fold. He won't cost so much and I think he's got a good skill set for the WCO. I don't put much stock in the concept of "injury prone".

Thanks. Anyone willing to give some input with regard to Seattle. Which FA would fit best?Pos Player Name FA Status Previous Team Current Team

Odd, neither Barber or Jones are listed on that KFFL list. Maybe it's not accurate.
I beleive they had playing time and/or performance incentives that they have exceeded making them free agents.
Julius Jones will be an UFA - his original 4 year deal is over with this season - he's expected to leave.Barber hit performance incentives that reduced his original 5 year deal to a 3 year deal - he will be a RFA. I expect he will get tendered at the 1st round level by the Cowboys.

Would you consider Kenton Kieth as a free agent. He signed a reseverve future contract. I still have trouble understanding this type of contract, but isn't it just a one year deal. Does anyone know if this makes him a UFA or a RFA. Additionally what are his chances of being signed by another team? Would he then be a RB#1?

Some names to watch for are Neal and Richard... where ever those FBs go... the RBs always produce... the Guy from Philly isn't bad either.

Fred Taylor

3/1/2007: Signed a four-year, $23 million contract. 2007: $800,000 (+ $4.2 million roster bonus), 2008: $4 million (+ $1 million roster bonus), 2009: $5 million (+ $1 million roster bonus), 2010: $6 million (+ $1 million roster bonus), 2011: Free Agent

wow... I don't see Jax paying Freddy 5 Million next yr... maybe KFFL is looking into the future.

:lmao: 63 career receptions

I think McAllister will be a free agent after N.O. drops him, iirc, he is due something like 7mil next year? Too much for him and his banged up knees.

I agree he doesn't have the numbers, but I've observed him catching the ball naturally. I think he hasn't had the opportunities in the Titan offense that he would get in Seattle.

I believe he will technically be an Exclusive Rights Free Agent. It is a designation for guys who have three years or less NFL years, but whose contract runs out. The club retains his rights unless they choose not to sign the guy. These guys have very little leverage and normally sign for the minimum.

Thanks for clearing that up a little. Helps to determine potential value going forward

seattle's RB situation will be pretty interesting next year.

alexander's agent pulled a fast one on the seahawks, cashing in the TD record for a long-term deal to an older RB (27-28 at the time).

i don't know the specifics, like the exact length or what kind of bonus money would go against their cap if they were to cut him, though.

i'm assuming he's got 2-3 more years on that contract and a bonus significant enough that they wouldn't consider cutting him. so they'll be in the same situation as this season: having an expensive old, bad RB that they can't cut.

i could see them bringing someone in, but not one of the more highly sought after guys (like turner or julius) b/c that'd be too much $.

they could just do what they should've done this year, use a 1st-3rd round draft pick on alexander's successor.

He just signed a new contract last year. He isn't going anywhere. Huge salary cap hit. Look to the draft for help.

Draft a guard or right tackle and Alexander will look a whole lot better. Perhaps a passing game would help too.

I could see Duckett or M. Moore fitting in with SEA, but in Duckett's case it is hard for me to get over the fact that he was brought into WA to fill a hole and yet he couldn't beat out Betts and didn't do anything. In Moore's case I just don't know if he can stay healthy for a full season as a starting RB. My guess is that SEA will go to draft. JJ might be the best fit but I don't know if they will want to give him the G's.

Some names to watch for are Neal and Richard... where ever those FBs go... the RBs always produce... the Guy from Philly isn't bad either.
Mike Sellars as well. He's a beast blocking. Downside is he can steal some goalline carries...I think Alstott is done, and I wouldn't be surprised if Neal and/or Richardson retired.
