Dolphins | Frerotte released

Tue, 14 Mar 2006 15:48:38 -0800

The NFL Network reports the Miami Dolphins have released QB Gus Frerotte.

I won't be surprised if he resigns for less money. We need a starter at least 1/2 the year with Cpep in the fold. He won't get to start at all anywhere else.

The Dolphins released quarterback Gus Frerotte on Tuesday afternoon just hours after reaching tentative agreement on a trade for Minnesota quarterback Daunte Culpepper.

Frerotte and the Dolphins were unable to reach agreement on a restructured contract that would lower his 2005 salary cap number from $4.68 million. The Dolphins had to release Frerotte on Tuesday to avoid paying him a $330,000 roster bonus.

Denver and St. Louis are expected to have interest in Frerotte, who was 9-6 as a Dolphins starter in 2005.

Are they expecting CPepp to be ready?
No chance. My wife works in physical therapy and she said there is no way he could be 100% in time. Maybe by mid September but even that would be pushing it. Seems like a bad decision to rush it.

Maybe the Dolphins still go after Patrick Ramsey. Every team needs a competent backup, let alone having a QB already an injury question mark.

Or maybe they just bring back Jay Fiedler in free agency :bag:

Bet he ends up in ST.louis
I like this call!Bulger is achy breaky...

Scott Linehan had him in Minny, then brought him to Miami is now the BMOC in St. Louis
Bulger was achey breaky because Martz didn't believe in blocky - wocky.I believe the Rams will try hard to bring him in to be the backup, but not if it will break the bank.
