Friday Night Lights on ESPN (1 Viewer)

I get that once you watch one hour of SportsCenter there's practically nothing new on the network for you to see, but this just reminds me of when History Channel started showing reality shows instead of actual history.

I think they are just running the first few episodes on ESPN, it will move over to ESPN Classic shortly after the first few episodes show on ESPN.

Did you forget about Playmakers????

I've never seen an episode of FNL so this will be my first run.

Good show, bad trend.

And yes, I know it's not the brand new start of a trend on ESPN (I remember not only Playmakers but Tilt as well) but it is the reemergence of one.

Great show + Minka Kelly + Adrianne Palicki (although she looked not so good in the cameo last week) = WIN!

Seriously though, a really great show. Kyle Chandler + Connie Britton are really good as husband and wife.

Too bad the ride ends this week as Season Five wraps up on NBC - would have been great if Disney/ESPN commissioned more new episodes.

For me, this has probably been the best series I have seen in the last decade. Every season has been outstanding, with the possible exception of Year 2, and even that season was very good.

I didn't know this but apparently season 2 was cut short b/c of the writers strike. It was scheduled to be 22 weeks like season 1 but only 15 episodes were written. I thought it ended rather abruptly. Oddly enough, the subsequent 3 seasons were each only 13 episodes. I guess the show lost its appeal after season 2 so it cut the number of episodes but there was enough to keep it going for 3 more seasons at that rate.

Just binge watched over the past month. Maybe it was because I binge watched it, but it seemed like there was an abundance of underage drinking, especially towards the end, and not just Tim but even Julie. I loved at the end when Tim was telling Tyra he's going to be a good guy and never doing anything illegal again, then takes a drink.

I don't have a problem with it, and I know it accurately represents high school life, I'm just wondering how the heck a family show was allowed to do that.

Wasn't it a Friday night 9pm show? Never really thought it was a "family" show.

Not sure of the time slot, just seemed like half the target demographic would have been high school students, especially football players.

I thought it was pretty entertaining the whole way and wish it could have continued, but it looks like the ratings declined enough towards the end to kill it.
