Which HoF players are we watching today? Something which is often discussed, but I dont remember it on this or the FFA board anytime recently.
With that in mind, lets get two consensus lists going.
1. If we stopped today/end of this season who would be in the Hof?
2. For those guys who wouldnt make it in "just" yet because they need to pad the resume, who is expected to be a lock so long as nothing unforseen happens (i.e. career ending or damaging injury, falling off a cliff stats wise, etc.)?
As for the first, Im sure to leave some out - and this is not about who I think deserves to go in, but who is expected to make it.
Offensive Players that are DEFINATELY IN today:
Henderson
Bonds*
Arod
Griffey
I Rod
Piazza
Jeter
Frank Thomas
Biggio
Probably:
Jeff Bagwell
Kent
Maybe:
Sosa
Alomar (dont see it happening at this point but career probably deserves it)
Offensive Players that should definately make it in, but need a bit more work:
Ramirez (might be in if we stopped today)
Suzuki
Pujols
Pitchers definately in NOW:
Pedro
Rivera
R Johnson
Maddux
Glavine
Clemens
Smoltz
Probably:
Schilling
Maybe:
Hoffman
Need more on the resume:
Johan Santana (long way to go, but really arent many options out there)
Who have I left out, or where might I be mistaken? Curious what the concensus will be.
Surprised that after some true all time great pitchers there is a gap between any real possibility for the next HoFers - win totals are so far down also, curious to see how that pans out.
