Future of QB in the NFL (1 Viewer)

I think so. Watching college football, it seems like running QBs have become the norm. I agree with the comments though that the future is mor elike Wilson than RG3.
Running QBs have pretty much always been the norm in college. The differance is that many of those running QBs in college are being asked to throw more.

Kaepernick is the model you're looking for. He's huge, so he can better withstand the beating associated with running all the time. Griffin is much more slight. One year in, and he's already taken a major beating.

The problem is that guys with Kaepernick's size and skill set don't grow on trees.
6'5", can run, and with a big arm? They do grow on trees. Just that most of them just can't pass for ####.
Yeah, that would be included under "skill set"...
Well Kaepernick wasn't very accurate in college, so give a lot of credit to the coaches for that improvement.
Let's not get too crazy with a guy that has only started 8 games. He was 5-2-1 in his 8 starts losing to and tying St. Louis (a sub .500 team)His completion % has been mid to low 50s for his lat 4 games.

The "running QB's have never won a Super Bowl" argument is really dumb. They've only played 46 of them, and most of them aren't relevant to the modern NFL. Not exactly a big sample size to go off of.
They are more likely to win now with the new rules of not being able to touch the QB. If this was the 70s or 80s NFL, all these running QBs would be sitting on IR.
That benefits the non running QBs more ... The running qbs are still going to take hits (see Vick and RGIII) and give Kaepernick time ... he will get his share.Cam Newton is the only running qb big enough to take the punishment but he's just not that good of a passer.

I've heard this before. There are a lot of young running QBs. There aren't a lot of old running QBs. In order to have long term success in the NFL, you have to learn to throw the ball from the pocket.Steve Young was a QB who could run, not a running QB. In fact, most of the guys that have been named on this thread were QBs who could run. Let's see what Kaep does when somebody takes away the run. Coordinators will figure out the spread. They always do.
