FYI - yahoo (1 Viewer)

Just got my invite today to a league...

Seat Sniffer,

As you mentioned, it gets a pretty bad rap, but I have to say, the lineup change application blows MFL away...it can be done so simply.

While it does not have the same versatility of an MFL in scoring, it really is so "plug and play", I can't see why someone would not use it for redraft.

It's free. and I have never had an issue with live scoring.IMO MFL is the way to go for complex leagues and internet based leagues. But all my local re-drafts use yahoo.

The reason I can't stand Yahoo is because the draft window never fully loads. It's been this way for me for 3 years, using multiple computers from multiple locations. Every draft there's always a guy or two who misses the whole thing because they couldn't get the window to load. That's a deal breaker.

Been in a re-draft league on yahoo for 13 or 14 years now and I commish a Keep 3 league that's going on 12 years. Never an issue with yahoo besides the draft app crashing rarely for an owner. Love the straight forward set up of yahoo. I co-commish a dynasty league on MFL and while it is flexible, damn it's complicated to get set up right. Both great sites for totally different reasons.

I've never had that problem in our online Yahoo league...we did have an issue last year in MFL where the system literally refused to let a guy select Peyton Manning (yes, that is a SmartSystem), and we literally had to sit around waiting for 30+ minutes...At first everyone was mum, but by minute 25 people were screaming at him, "he probably won't even play!!!"...well he got him, and a last place finish.

It doesn't have proper conditional waivers, just a messed up halfway functional imitation of it.Other than that I don't mind it.

I've used Yahoo for years. Even run a dynasty league on it, with the help of a spreadsheet I keep in the offseason.

I have tried MFL but had difficulty doing all the settings...for me it was 'too many' settings for my little brain. Tried NFL.com a year or two back, but they had a max roster limit of 20, which seemed fairly arbitrary.

They have improved the features every year, including improving flexibility in Waivers, marking keepers, etc.

I have never experienced any downtime with Yahoo, minimal issues with scoring, and the settings are easy to manage.

Like I said in a post above, the one dynasty league I'm in uses MFL with it's ability to allow trading players for picks, or lopsided trades of multiple players and picks. How do you handle that in yahoo? The keeper rules section I read mentioned that pick for pIck trades are allowed but they must be even trades (1 for 1, 2 for 2, etc) and there was no mention of players for picks. Would love to hear how/if you handle that on yahoo. Thx.

There are not many moves during the season in the Dynasty league, maybe 1-2/week. It is easy to manage trades by just marking them on the spreadsheet after they occur. In Yahoo, you move some your player (or if there is no player on one side, add an arbitrary player then use them as the traded player). After the trade, you post the details of picks involved on the Yahoo League message board. I update the spreadsheet with the players moved, and mark it with picks traded.Biggest hassle with using Yahoo for Dynasty is re-loading teams from previous year come July/August, but that maybe takes 45 minutes. Not a big deal. I use the spreadsheet to track contract years for each player (decrements automatically, has a place to add Extensions). This is part of the rules I made up for the league when we started, to the spreadsheet is a necessity. Making a note about who traded what pick is not a big deal...I just look at the League weekly and check the message boards (and am notified when a trade happens). I post the latest spreadsheet for the league, so they can grab a copy whenever they want.

You should move your spreadsheet to the Google cloud using Google docs. You can give your leaguemates read access and then you won't have to repost updated sheets all the time. It will just live in the cloud and your mates will be able to access it anytime.

Yowza. Yeah, I had a feeling it would be that much manual labor. I'll stick with MFL for dynasty and yahoo for re-draft and my keep 3 league.

Thanks for taking the time to break down your process.
