Game thread: Colts vs. Redskins (1 Viewer)

Sure I'm excited. It's football!

Perhaps some Colts and Redskins fans could come in and tell us what to look for in this game? Any RBs, WRs, etc to pay attention to?

Not much of any importance to be had with this game. I'm just excited to see some bodies flying around the field and hopefully some nice plays and hits.

Looking forward to seeing what type of play calling Zorn does. Granted its preseason, but I hope to see a much more aggressive approach than the conservative Gibbs II era.

I am just excited to see football back. Don't think we will learn much from tonight's game though. Lots of guys sitting this one out.

Has Zorn said anything about Portis vs. Betts? Will this game tell us anything?

Also curious if Mike Hart has a big preseason if that could cut into Addai's time. And how big time a WR will Anthony Gonzales be this year?

What do you mean Portis vs. Betts?
I meant if there will be more of a RBBC, or if Portis is still the main guy. I haven't been reading anything about Redskins football, so if I'm missing something, I apologize.
Portis is the guy. He will not only be the bell cow rushing the ball, but Zorn has come out and said he plans to use Portis more in the passing game as well.

Really? If that's true, that would certainly make Portis a top 10 RB pick. Do you believe him?

I see no reason not to. Portis recorded the highest receptions of his career last year and Zorn plans to build on it. I think the style of WCO he runs supports a fair amount of targets to the RBs.

Betts is a career backup, while Portis is a proven stud.

Bump up Rock Cartwright, Randle El and Jason Campbell, Bump down Colts DST for failing at onside kick and letting them score in 3 plays.

Mike Hart seems like he did pretty darn great with limited touches. The #2 RB spot seems there for the taking and he could be a #2 good enough to actually own.

All Redskin QB's looked good but I was pleased to see Colt Brennan do as well as he did. He was extremely sharp and placing that ball with extreme accuracy on the longer throws.

He really did look excellent. He threw one behind the receiver, but I wondered if he meant to put it there, it was very catchable. I think Collins will be the backup for now, but wouldn't be surprised to see Colt move up the depth chart before this season is over, and would bank on him being the #2 by next year.

Colt was amazing while playing at Hawaii. a lot of people say he's a "system QB". i've never believed it. the kid has got skills.

I've been a big fan of his. He has a lot of confidence and poise, and you could even see it tonight. That's impressive to me, most rookies don't have that confidence on the field, though it's still only the first preseason game.

...are you kidding me?!?!?!?

Colt went 9 for 10, 100+ passing yards, and 2 great TDs! As a Redskins fan, I am totally psyched that should Campbell falter or get injured, we have a great backup plan.

I bet no one else on the Redskins does as well this entire preseason, but I wouldn't count Brennan out for beating this starting mark though. Collins should try to make his mark as a good tutor for QBs so that he might get a coaching job later. He is not going to be a great starter, or a good backup for much longer. He should think about life after playing (and so should Favre). I hope they rest Campbell so that he is fresh for the season.

Slow down there. Colt did look good, but it is only the first preseason game.

On the flip side

Anyone else notice Lorenzon.

I'm a UK fan. He was always big, but he seemed HUGE, and the way he threw the ball, eww.

Anyone notice how Pierre Garcon did? Anything worth noting?
I thought he looked good, but he was playing most of the time against a rookie who figures to be the 5th CB on the 'Skins roster, Justin Tryon, and he's got to be about as deep on the Colts depth chart at WR, right? I didn't like that we didn't see much of Roy Hall until very late in the game.
