Game thread: New York Jets vs. Baltimore Ravens (1 Viewer)

Can't really blame Keller there. He probably doesn't even know where he is yet after Lewis knocked him to next Sunday.

I've been saying it for 3 years, Brian Schottenheimer is awful.

I used to sort of think it was Mangini holding him back. But now its plain to see that he just sucks. Totally weakened Baltimore secondary and they didn't take a shot down field all night.

Add in all the stupid penalties and i just don't know what to say.

Plus, I'm sure we lost Jenkins for the year

Maybe they will get lucky and the other team will be resting their starters for the next 15 games?

We could be in for another epic battle of "Who wants to lose more?" between the Bills and Jets this year. Could be fun, like an annual thing or something.

Man, I'm glad I slept through this game. What a fricken disaster of a primetime showcase for this league. Only thing better would have been the Lions-Bears debacle.

Next year's lockout can't happen soon enough.

(Going to lose the matchup where I had Rice and Mathews up against the Jets D as well.)

As a fan, I've felt this way too (and blamed Mangini as well). Schott relies way too much on deception / movement / etc. He calls most games like he has no players at all, and the only way they can win is to fool the other guy.

Yeah. i don't get it. I know they didn't have holmes tonight (and i do think he'll make a difference if they actually throw the ball some) but you don't have to have a 2nd year guy up there changing every play at the LOS.I got news for Schotty........Mark Sanchez is not going to look across the line and outsmart Ray Lewis. Not gonna happen. So line up your horses, call your play and just try and beat them.

I'll be hearing "Kill....KILL" in my sleep tonight.

Sanchez isn't Peyton Manning. He's a 23 year old who threw nearly 2x as many picks as TD's last year. Pick the right plays and make him run them. Thats your job.

Rex appears to have put together a Ravens-type team of a couple of years ago -- fast and aggressive defensively, yet prone to penalties. They'll overwhelm some of the teams on their schedule this year with that fierce defense and the offense won't always be going against a team as stout against the run as Baltimore so they'll have some success; it just doesn't appear to be a Super Bowl-quality team with their shortcomings at QB.

I thought Flacco had a so-so game, especially since the Jets didn't bring as much pressure as I was expecting (credit the Baltimore Oline a little bit here). His initial mistake, holding the ball after the quick hitter didn't materialize and then getting creamed and fumbling for his trouble, was a disturbing and elementary brainfart. The Ravens will run the ball better against other teams, especially now that opposing defenses have to pay close attention to Boldin, who was nothing short of a revelation last night. I never would have thought that he would have become such a big weapon so soon for the Ratbirds.

Ugly, agonizing game. Seemed like Baltimore was always backed up inside its own two. But a big win on enemy turf nonetheless and that's the kind of game they didn't win very often the past two years.

I think the biggest beneficiary of Boldin's presence may be Heap. He was in one-on-one with safeties or LBs all night. Can't believe he didn't catch that TD pass, though.Agree on Flacco's gaffe. He has got to get past that hurdle of holding the ball so long. Just get rid of it, Joe.It was a brutal, nasty, disorganized game that could've easily gone the other way so there's a big sigh of relief coming from Ravens Nation this morning. Beating a potential playoff rival on the road is big for Baltimore. Now they go on to Cincy, who's got to play better in their home opener than they did last week.
