Game Thread: Steelers at Broncos (1 Viewer)

Heard a stat this morning.

3rd down conversion %:

Pitt 58%

Denv 56%

It sure didn't seem like that last night. Every 3rd down seemed to be converted. Redonkulous.

Guess in the past the officials were taken advantage of and they think they deserve a lot more. I dont fault them but the NFL cant let this bad officiating happen much longer. I hope both sides come to an agreement because from what Ive heard 3-4 weeks is going to hurt the game.
150K a year part time, with a retirement package, for OFFICIATING (definately replaceable talent)...is being taken advantage of? Seriously?
Yeah - Just like The Pats can replace thier starting RG with me next week. Everyone can be replaced, thats not the issue. The issue is they are being replaced with someone who isnt as good.
True...but that's not completely on the NFL either. Looking ahead, they WILL be replaced with guys just as good if no agreement is reached.
BIg part of the problem is that we are calling these guys "replacement Officials" when a more accurate term would be (temporary)"Substitute Officials". If the NFLRA and the NFL don't come to terms...the real replacements will be just as good as the old NFL refs. There are PLENTY of guys reffing at the FBS level who could do just as good a job as the old NFL refs.
I don't want to get into a dumb language argument but these guys are "replacement Officials". They are not permanent but by definition of a person who crosses a picket line (scab) to work is by definition a replacement worker. Not sure what your argument is about calling them replacement officials since that's technically what they are.
They aren't on strike they are locked out, so no picket line.

Sorry my bad.Same concept

Federal law allows employers to hire such workers during a lockout, although they cannot permanently replace regular employees. Employers can pay the replacements lower wages, although as is the case with American Crystal, the companies sometimes need to offer higher wages and help pay for housing to attract replacements.

Lock Outs

Some employers lock out union members during the negotiations process. Union employees are not permitted to enter the worksite and replacement workers are hired. Union employees must be reinstated to their jobs when the employer ends the lock out. i.e.: NHL lockout.
