1-10-BAL44 (1:13) (No Huddle, Shotgun) S.McNair pass to D.Mason pushed ob at TEN 42 for 14 yards (R.Hill).

PENALTY on TEN-T.Brown, Neutral Zone Infraction, 5 yards, enforced at BLT 44 - No Play.

Anyone know what happened here? I figure it has to be a mistake, because otherwise it doesn't make sense.
It didn't make sense - they ran the play even though the flag was dropped. The Ravens picked up 14 yds and then they announced the call. Balt was frantic trying to wave off the penalty but they couldn't. One of several weird and/or flat out wrong calls in this game. Horrible officiating - and they usually did a very poor job of explaining their calls.
How about that "he was down when he fumbled" call? He CLEARLY fumbled while standing straight up. Titans recover. I'm still not sure what the explanation was there.
Yeah - one of the weird things about seeing the game live is you never really know what the hells going on. But the rumor circulating in the stands was: the replay clearly showed a fumble but no one knew who recovered and the replay didn't show that. Funniest moment of the game: Crowd was going nuts booing the refs after about the 3rd bad call. Then a commercial break and they introduce members of the armed forces for some recognition thing. Booing stops for about 15 seconds. Introduction over - booing resumes. :lmao: I wonder if the refs were thinking "Jesus Christ, bring out some more soldiers!"

That's basically what the ref called after review - that Anderson did fumble (thus overturning the "down by contact" call on the field which was :loco: ), but that they couldn't tell who recovered it. The Ravens O-lineman (Vincent?) appeared to have the ball - though the announcers seemed more sure of that than I was. But after 12 hours of trying to sort the pile, a Titan came out with the ball. But they never said Vincent had the ball. If that's the case, it's like every other pileup after a fumble - who comes out with it gets it. On top of that, there was a 15 yard PF penalty against Ogden which the refs forgot to mark off afterwards, until Fisher got their attention just in time.
