Game Thread W11 - Oakland V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

wow, mendenhall really does turn ALL THE WAY AROUND when he's about to get hit to avoid contact...until a steelers fan brought that up last week, i didn't really notice it. looks kinda silly.
You may have read my emphatic statement last week, but he has been doing it for a couple years now.

Looked like he looked for Seymour and started yapping at him to me. there had been a lot of extra BS going on between Seymour and the center up to that point. Makes sense to talk a little #### as you go up 21-3.
FWIW, saw this on CBS Sportsline a little bit ago. Kemoeatu talking about Seymour:""He was frustrated," Kemoeatu said. "On the play [that led to Seymour's ejection], me and him were going at it. He bull-rushed me and I threw him down. He tried to twist my ankle, and I said something to him. He got up and started to say something back, and that's when Ben was walking past him. He took it out on Ben. Ben didn't say anything to him. He just snapped."

It's obvious that Ben wasn't just "walking past" Ben seek-ed Seymour out and made contact. Looked to me like Ben came over and said something to him. He did put his hand(s) on Seymour in a non-aggressive way. This story, the way Kemoeatu tells it is BS...

Big Ben meet karma, can't feel bad for a guy that does worse to women.
Exactly, seeing that was the single greatest moment of my day yesterday... And I don't believe Seymour should have been ejected either.. Guys hit eachother on the field all the time.. Give them a stiff penalty and let them play ball.. sheesh..Ben deserves about 20 more of those..

He punched a guy in the face and you don't think he should have been ejected  . What in your mind constitutes an ejection?

Where's ghost rider to explain why all the calls were correct?
:lmao:Just kidding. It seemed like of late, you were popping into the Steelers thread a lot to justify the fines assessed on some of these hits when the Steeler fans were bellyaching. I actually agreed with you much of the time, but I figured there was going to be no backing of a couple of the PF calls in this game - just absurd. One actually took a TD off the board.

No, he should have been ejected but I still think it was awesome

How often do you think guys get hit or pushed or kicked on the football field? How often do guys get ejected for it?, And by the way, that was an open handed blow, not a punch, and If he was climbing up my shoulder pads chirping in my ear, I'd probably have done the same..I don't think I've ever seen a guy get ejected for something like that.. I've seen A LOT of football fights..

Quit fishing. He sucker "punched/hit" him in the face. Any player would and should get suspended for that. I don't care if Ben instigated it or not...................

"I apologize to my teammates," Seymour said afterward. "I never want to do anything to hurt the team. You always want to protect yourself, but there's no excuse. ... I'm not sure why he [Roethlisberger] ran up on me. I just turned around and it was a natural reaction."

Seymour said he doesn't remember Roethlisberger saying anything to him.

Obviously you've seen a fight on the field where there was no one ejected... More often than when someone is ejected.....

LOL "Suspended"?..... Boy you are a Steelers Homer aren't you?

Mind providing a link Pittsburgh fan?And even if Ben said nothing, Ben had no reason to run over to him and put his hands on him if not to taunt him.. Did he think Seymour was in need of a shoulder rub.. I wouldn't want him touching me either, especially in that situation.

LinkNot that it will matter. You're obviously not capable of rational thought on this matter.

Good, then no more need for your "rational" posts :excited:

There was a "fight" between Seymour and Kemoeatu earlier in the game. Mostly grabbing and pushing. If one had thrown a punch they would have been ejected.

So for every punch, (Seymour didn't throw a "punch" btw) someone is ejected? You and I know that isn't true..

A punch thrown is a 15 yard penalty with the possibility of being ejected from the game. Punching the other team's QB in the head without physical provocation (i.e wrestling, pushing, etc....before you start with the 'Ben touched his shoulder' garbage) is going to result in an ejection every single time. Believing otherwise is either foolish or ignorant. If a defensive player's hand accidentally GRAZES a QB's helmet, it's a 15 yard penalty these days for a blow to the head, what do you think a swinging punch to the head right in front of the ref is going to result in? Come on, man. You're being absurd.

$25k fine for **** Seymour
Sounds about right. I initially thought a suspension might have been in order, but after seeing the replay several times, a fine is the right call. Had it been a closed fist, then okay, but for an open-handed hard shove? Nah.

I guess I'm OK with $25K. At least they fined him, unlike Patrick Chung last week. Don't quite understand why Seymour's sucker punch after play stops is only a $25K fine and a hard hit by Harrison during play is a $50k fine, but it is what it is.

Because the Steelers are getting a different ruleset applied to them. :flex:Imagine if that punch to the head under the facemask happened to any other Super Bowl winning QB. Peyton? Brady? Brees? Eli? Favre? Now imagine it was a Steeler who did it (like Hampton or Woodley). Now imagine if it was the beast known as James Silverback Harrison. You know it.

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner!

So if a guy runs and grabs you and you hit him its a sucker punch and suspension worthy? A 25k fine isn't bad. Isn't that what Harrison was crying over?

Sure fine him but calling it a sucker punch and claiming the NFL is against you when they've been in your back pocket for years? LULZ

Seymour was ejected that sure as hell benefited Pittsburgh.

the more I watch the replay, it wasn't as egregious as I first thought. Definitely worthy of a fine but I'm ok with no suspension. By the way, I'm guessing the steelers win that game handily whether Seymour is in or out.

Steelers were up 21-3 when Seymour got ejected. I don't think it mattered whether Seymour was ejected or not. It was not going to affect the outcome of the game.
