Game Thread W11 - Washington V Dallas (1 Viewer)

Missed the first half due to church running late. Looks like I didn't miss much.

This is just UGLY.

god Romo SUCKS....i'm done with this *******...he's killed Witten's value and Folk is now also worthless...i knew i should have dropped Folk for, well, anyone. :goodposting:

You're completely off base here with Witten IMO. Romo has had very little to do with Witten's disappointing season. It's the offensive scheme; he rarely runs a route over 10 yards in the current offense. He's become a check-down receiver instead of stretching the defense down the middle of the field. He's still an enormous talent, but simply is not being used correctly. As a Cowboys fan, I'm frankly baffled. I won't miss Garrett after the season ends.

:yucky: Witten's receptions are right on par with the last two years. It's his yardage that's suffering, and calls in the red zone. The Cowboys have really had poor playcalling this year, and the entire Cowboys offense has operated in fits and starts because of it.

Season defining drive right here.
:yucky: if you need this against the Skins your season is over already
Losing to Wash, the season is over. A win just means you have a lot of things to correct.
Like score more then 7 points a game?
You guys might want to mix in a touchdown every once in a while.
Your the one saying this is a defining drive for your team. Face your not good, as soon as you realize that, you will feel alot better. Trust me.

I will feel better about win number 7. Good luck to you guys getting to win 7.
Good luck winning a playoff game. If your hapy with a 7-6 win against a team with 2 oline starters a 3rd rb, then I guess its good to be you. :)
Didn't say I was happy about the game. Enjoy your sour grapes with built in excuses.

 You're the only person talking smack here. Your team has been in a downward spiral for a decade.

I actually caught part of this game while visiting my mom. Redskin played over their heads with so many injured players and frankly, with such a poor roster. Great effort by the defense. The offense moved the ball a good bit but when the Cowboys didn't stop them they stopped themselves. Suisham picked a fine time to miss his first 2 FG's of the year. Cartwright really surprised me. I had never seen him play this well. Cowboys seemed out of sync and playing way below the ability of their roster. Their defense was pretty good though, kept Campbell harried all game, and came up big at the end of the game. Tell me why Dallas doesn't cut Roy Williams right now? He's a drive killer and a whiner, and their younger WR's seem to be improving with more playing time. And has Dallas forgotten Witten is on their team? Good lord, he's about the best TE in the league and he's mostly invisible all game. This is one of those odd situations where neither team would take the other's head coach if offered.

:goodposting: Cartwright is an easy guy to root for.

Game can be sum'd up in two words..."IDIOT KICKER!" Had one idiot with a #6 jersey not suited up today and it would be a different story.

Here's what I think from an amateur point of view:1) Williams and Romo obviously lack chemistry. Naturally, part of this falls on Williams.2) Garrett has no idea how to use Williams (using him much more often as a deep & double-move WR rather than a move-the-chains & simple post WR)3) Williams has made several mistakes, but he has looked way worse due to 1 & 2.4) Garret's inability to use Williams is related to his misuse of Witten. He should be running deep routes on the same side of the field as Williams, who should be running shorter, possession routes. Every now and then they can switch when you want to take a big shot downfield. They should be able to play off each other incredibly well, but neither of these very talented receivers has been producing this season and that's a travesty.A new HC and a new OC could do WONDERS for this offense next year.

Well said. I guess as much as I was so frustrated there wasn't a HC change last offseason that's the light at the end of the tunnel. If the team does well to close the season and goes far into the playoffs hey great otherwise new coaching staff next season.

I had zero expectation of a win going in, however it's a bit frustrating as a 'Skins fan that they could lead in almost all major statistical categories - total yards; yards passing; yards per play; yards per attempt/completion; turnovers; penalties; 3rd down % - and still not win.

That's where a PK can really kill you in a close game.

It wouldn’t feel right to make fun of the Redskins this week, because the guys on the defensive side of the ball all did their jobs, and then some. As for the offense and the coaching staff …

The following quotes are passed along from Dan Steinberg’s DC Sports Bog, your online home for postgame quotes that somehow find a way to further humiliate the Redskins. The Redskins needlessly burned two timeouts in the second half. Here’s Jim Zorn explaining the first one:

“Well, shoot,” he said. "Yeah. We got caught on a clock, and I really don’t know how it happened, because I felt like we got the play in, I felt like we were out of the huddle, and we were down to :01 [on the clock] before we knew it. Absolutely have no idea how that happened. Because we were moving in and out of the huddle pretty well then.

And here’s Jim Zorn explaining the second one.

“And then on the second timeout, that use of timeout, that was just so frustrating to me. We hurt Jason on that play. I hurt him, because I didn’t have the needed call, and we got caught on time again, where we had a shift and a motion and I had to call timeout because it wasn’t gonna be [snapped in time]. It was just totally mine, totally on me. I screwed us out of that timeout. I did everything I could just to maintain my composure, and then it absolutely had an issue at the end of this football game, so it’s just on me.”

I think we’re about two Redskins losses away from Jim Zorn sitting in front of the mic at postgame press conferences, pulling out an acoustic guitar and singing a song he wrote called, “If You Had Any Shred of Mercy in Your Soul, You’d Fire Me Right Now.”

Wow Wade Phillips looks like Vince Lomardi when compared to Jim Zorn.

Yeah, the kicker screwed up, but the coaches messed up on the 3rd and 2 play before the final missed kick. Dallas was going to do everything they could to stop the run there and Washington makes the worst possible call in that spot; a shot gun delayed draw???? Are you kidding me??? They needed to either play action or roll out or if they really wanted to run, they should have gone form a goal line type of offense and manned up against Dallas but you don't and can't lose yardage! Sure the kicker could have bailed them out, but that was terrible coaching

Campbell is a good passer rolling to his right. I'm a broken record on this but I've never understood over the last three years since he's been the starter why now two coaching staffs have failed to recognize this and use such play-calls more.
