Game Thread W12 - Buffalo V NY Jets (1 Viewer)

The TD was pretty much luck by Brad Smith, but the decision to have Cromartie returning punts was completely inexcusable.
luck?what was the one-handed grab by Keller earlier? all skill?

Huh? Cromartie deflected the pass and it popped straight up in the air. Was the Keller pass deflected off a defender?
Cromartie also fell down while Smith maintained his focus and brought the ball in. That's a great play, IMO.All great plays have luck involved. Just odd to try and discredit it as being all luck.

Yeah it definitely took focus to bring the ball in, I wasn't trying to discredit Smith. I was only saying that I can't be nearly as upset by the TD as I can by the decision to have Cro fielding a punt. I'll generally take my chances with having a DB touch the ball first and it usually won't be caught.

nice make up long FG for Rayner after the muffed kickoff earlier.

Stevie Johnson made a pretty ridiculous catch out of bounds.

So why does SJ TD count and the 50 yard pass to D-Jax did not ?
huh?
Johnson got an excessive celebration penalty on his TD, but his penalty wasn't offset by the penalty on the Jets, so his TD counted.DeSean Jackson caught a long pass and celebrated excessively, but his penalty was offset by a penalty on the Giants, so his catch didn't count. The answer is that Johnson scored and Jackson didn't. If Jackson had scored, the penalties wouldn't have offset; instead the excessive celebration penalty would have been assessed on the kickoff. The offsetting penalty rule in that situation has an exception for touchdowns.

Thanks. I don't remember the Desean Jackson play.Obviously they don't take away a TD for excessive celebration even if there's no penalty on the defense. It does seem dumb that the rules allow for the 50-yard non scoring catch to be negated for an offensive foul that happens after the play is over.

Jets facing a 3rd and 12 from the very edge of FG range after the 2MW. On 1st down Sanchez missed a wide open Keller around the 23 yard line. I hate this team.

another terrible performance by Sanchez. Yeah, he's got 3 TD's, but he's thrown at least 5 passes that could have been picked.

And, as usual, the play calling is terrible. At this point, its pretty clear that Schottenheimer is just trying to show he can run a high powered offense so he can get a head coaching job. Sanchez is all over the place. Run the ####### football

Plax saves the season (for now) with a miracle 1 handed catch and the Jets capitalize with a nice strike to Holmes.

Really wish the Bills still didn't have a minute left with 3 TO's.

Then Sanchez makes a great play to find Holmes for a TD. 28-24 Jets. The stats will say that Sanchez had a good day with 4TDs and 1 pick. Don't believe those stats.

football is strange some times.

The guy embarrasses Revis all game long and then can't up with either of 2 potential game winning catches (although the 2nd one was on Fitzpatrick)

Jets still suck though. Not going anywhere.

The Jets are not a good team, but I have to be thrilled with the win. Maybe they will actually be able to fix the host of issues they have.

Which is why he is not a #1 and does not deserve to get paid as such...replay of Steelers game drop last year. This team has so many holes to fill....still.

this doesn't make sense. you probably can't find a #1 WR who doesn't make some key drops.I'm not saying he is one or not, but that's not enough evidence to base the ultimate judgment on.has anyone done more against Revis this year than he just did today? while the QB was getting pressured and hit all day?

I didn't get to see or hear a second of this game and am in disbelief that it was that close. Buffalo has twice as many guys hurt now as they did when they got smacked by the Jets the first time around. I figured they'd get blown out. And yet, for some reason I'm still disappointed to find out that they blew a late game lead. Would the game have been different if Fred Jackson had been in instead if Spiller? Spiller's stat line tells me yes.

And yeah, I still don't understand why George Edwards hasn't been fired. The only thing I can think is that they're giving him a pass because of the injuries. But the defense was awful last year and awful from the start this year. They just got a bunch of lucky bounces early on that lead to turnovers that bailed them out.

Lastly, Stevie Johnson is infuriating. He can totally dominate a game, but has choked several times in big spots. Nobody else has put up the numbers against Revis that he has, and yet the loss could still be pinned on him. Unreal. Knock it off with all the rap ghetto superstar and hocking your brand on Twitter and start getting more serious about making the plays when it counts like Santonio Holmes.

Santonio Holmes, really? No young wide receiver with maturity issues should look toward Holmes. He's still immature. The Jets managed a win but that was an unimpressive performance. The Bills passing game showed signs of life. It'll be interesting to see if that continues.

Not saying that #1's don't drop key passes....but I want my #1 to catch a ball in his hands that can win a ball game. Johnson is not that guy and he is not a #1 WR....yet.

The Bills actually played pretty well, considering the injury issues. It was a good game.
