Game Thread W12 - New England V Detroit (1 Viewer)

Not really able to watch the game as I am relegated to the kitchen, but can I assume my Jahvid Best start in the hopes of a Julius Jones-circa-many-years-ago-performance was a complete and total waste of a roster spot? Has he even been in the game?
Yeah, a wasted roster spot for this week. Brown has had 9 rushes and Morris has had 8-9 rushes as well.

Wow, so much for the AFC being so "dominant". Their best team having trouble with a team that's in last place of it's division..
They also lost to the Browns. There are no great or dominant teams this year. The pretty good team that gets hot late is going to win the Super Bowl.
In the salary cap NFL the difference between most teams is negligible. A lot of people say it's a coaching and QB league, those two things being the difference almost every week. The Lions could easily be 5-5, maybe even 6-4 right now with a few bounces. The Bears could easily be 4-6, that's the NFL these days whether people like it or not.
If that's the case, why have the Patriots, Steelers, and Colts been on top of the AFC for the past decade, while other teams have been terrible constantly?
Did you not bother to read the rest of my post?

That is one of the worst NFL individual defense plays you'll ever see. Bumped the guy thinking he had help when he didn't, then miss the tackle over and over again. Nice job Alphonso.

And on Monday night football they did this thing showing how great some of the players were that the Broncos let go... Smith was on that list.
He isn't great, but he was a steal for the Lions and has some real skills. He has 5 or 6 INTs already.
Yeah he's been pretty good but people are more apt to remember that play right there than body of work. Not fair, but that was a pretty awful effort and as we know you can't make too many mistakes if you want to win NFL games. Every week it's something new.

Have to admit, Pettigrew has been solid in PPR leagues... He was waiver wire in our 12 team league and has been solid the last 4-5 weeks.

I know he hasn't been good since the injury, but can't believe he's not even worth a flex spot. He has been at least good for 4 or 5 catches each week. Why have him active with no intention of playing him...UGH

Are you kidding me with that OPI call on Pettigrew?
Unreal.
I don't think I've seen anything like that in years. NFL must be getting all their officiating talent from the SEC and Pac-10.
I told you it was coming. That's a HUGE call, but people will say NE, NE, NE anyway. Game could have easily been tied, NE D sucks. That gives the ball back -- it's like a 14 point swing.Stuff like that makes me want to devote way less time to something like this stuff.

Gronkowski reminds me of Witten. Huge, solid all around, lumbering TE. Pats got a huge steal with him. (W/o the back issues, surefire 1st rounder)

C'mon dude. The Pats are carving up the Lions defense. Not sure how you can say that was a 14 point swing when NE hasn't punted since their first possession of the second half.

I disagree with this. Some penalties are absolutely crushing given the time of the game they're called, the momentum they stifle, the entire complexion changes. That was one. Detroit has been driving on NE's defense too--a td on that drive and it's a completely different game. Crushing, crushing penalty, and total BS.

Hello, Pats D's giving up 24 including a missed FG. They had the ball 1st and 10 at the Pats 35ish. Chances are they are scoring. Instead, an absolutely ridiculous OFFENSIVE PI call. One you will NEVER see called on New England. No, it wasn't 14 points on a play or two, but FOR SURE it was taking any chance away from Detroit. Were the Pats gonna win? Sure. Does Detroit D suck. Yes, but that's not the point here. Did the Lions get screwed royally? Absolutely, and it shouldn't happen. Sick of it.

Fine. But don't pretend that that one call (which was admittedly bad) had much of an effect on this game when the Patriots have been marching up and down the field for the past hour.

It had a huge effect on the game. The Lions were looking to tie it up instead they get called for the BS penalty. NE probably wins the game anyway but the call was huge.

See, you're wrong about the first part, it ABSOLUTELY had an effect. You've got to be kidding with that.Which changed the second part of your argument. Once NE was up 14, it was over. That's the whole ####### point. Lastly, you are validating my other point, which was that since it ends up like this (Detroit quits), people will say PATS, BLAH, PATS, it didn't matter anyway. YES, it did matter.

While the officials have tried to make this look like a fairly called game, at least early on, the penalties against the Pats were meaningless, while Det's were more costly. There's no way that anyone could say this was fairly called after the way that scuffle was penalized. That was ridiculous.
