Game Thread W12 - Oakland V San Diego (1 Viewer)

This is not Rivers' best game.
By far his worst. He was bad. This is the first game in which he had accuracy problems.
Agreed. That being said, his receivers didn't do him any favors. Almost every receiver Rivers threw to had a drop today. VJax on that 4 and 6, LT dropped the short pass in the flat that was a bit low, Gates dropped an easy one, Floyd got his hands on a ball that was catchable even though the defender was making contact as the ball arrived, etc.The timing seemed to be just a bit off today. As bad as the Raiders are overall, their defense is very underrated and in the matchup of Oakland's small, speedy DBs v. Chargers big, physical WRs, Oakland definitely won the battle.Loved seeing Philip animated and excited at the post game press conference. You'd have thought he had thrown 4 TDs and the Chargers won by 30. He is focused on one thing, and one thing only, the W.

From another board:

If any of you posters went to the game today, you may have seen a big brawl in the view section. A drunk Raider and Charger fan got into it my section. My seats are row 9 and these guys were way up in the top 2 rows of the stadium. Everyone stands up at the first commotion and we look up to see what is happening. The Charger fan is swinging some wicked haymakers and is nailing the Raider fan in the nose. The Raider fan grabs him and shoves him and they go tumbling down over the top of people about 3 rows of seats. They both hop up and the Charger fan lands another wild haymaker right on the Riader fans nose again. The Raider fan shoves him again and they both go tumbling over another couple of rows of seats. The Charger fan gets up and the Raider fan is down for the count. Another Raider fan comes running down the aisle and the shoves the Charger fan again and he comes tumbling over the top of 2 or 3 more rows of seats ending up in the row behind me about two seats away. I grab my wife and push her behind me waiting for what is coming next (in case I had to Shaq Fu somebody!). The Raider fan had landed on top of the Charger fan and was trying to hit him, but couldn't really swing. He had these big dreadlocks so one of the fans behind him grabbed his hair and was yanking his head back. Just then the cops come running up and grab the guy and pull him off the Charger fan who hops over the row and sits down a few seats away from me. The Raider fan tries to shove the cops so they crack him a couple of times with their batons and send him to his knees. They cuff and suddenly a new brawl starts up back in the original location. But by this time the red shirts and cops are all over the place. A Raider fan jumps on a Charger fan and one of the red shirts grabs the guy and flings him down the steps! He tumbles about 6 or 7 steps before the cops grab him and cuff him. We watch as they cuff 3 Raider fans and about 5 or 6 Charger fans and haul them off. The original Raider fan is helped down and has a badly broken nose with blood steaming down his face. The guy who was brawling with him was sitting quietly in the seat hoping nobody would notice him, but a Raider fan pointed him out and they took him out.And now you know why I dropped my eight year old daughter off at grandpa's house instead of bringing her to the game!
Every year, man. Every year.

Doing some Monday surfin for information on the games I didn't get to see, and noticed that ESPN had some comment (footnote to recap) about LT coming out for one play after 'tweaking a hamstring'.....?

Did anyone who watched the game see him leave briefly? Also, was that big run after he 'tweaked' the hammy?

thanks

Yes. He was briefly dinged. It looked more like a knee or ankle to me, but I'll take a hamstring.I don't remember the timing of the long run relative to the injury. But it didn't look bad. He just needed a moment on the sideline and then he seemed to be okay.

Reading that footnote brought chills down my spine.....Sounds like he's ok, since I haven't found much more on it. thanks

It was in the third quarter, he got slammed out of bounds pretty hard, came down on his left side. He got up limping and when he got to the trainers they were looking at his left knee. Obviously he wasn't too jacked up as he came back in and did what he did from that point forward. I didn't notice him limping at any time after that, so it looks like it was a very temporary thing.

Ugly game, not very fun to watch at all except for what LaDainian did. The Raider D looks very good to me, even though the Charger offense was extremely out of synch most of the game. Brooks though not great, was a definite step up from Walter. Is the Walter experiment over? Do the Raiders go QB in the draft? Or will they stick it out with him and try and trade their pick for multiple picks to shore up the offensive line?

I was afraid the Chargers would take the day off going in, and to me that looks like exactly what happened, starting with putting everybody inactive and continuing on with the lackadaisical attitude throughout the game (except for LaDainian of course). Lots of mental mistakes. They were very fortunate to win this one - but when you're having one of THOSE seasons you get these kinds of wins. I'll be glad to see Merriman, Mccree and Castillo back in the lineup vs. the Bills, that's for sure.

It was definitely before the long run.
