Game Thread W14 - New England V Chicago (1 Viewer)

Pats still going no huddle? REALLY?!
They even took the field in the third quarter if you can believe that.
I love the Pats fans sarcastic come backs. Classic.I'm sure the Pats will continue to throw all the way til there's 2 minutes left despite being up 30+.
And they should play the way you want them to why exactly?
Really? It's obnoxious running up the score like this. Plain and simple.
You're probably too young to remember this, but there is no such thing as "running up the score" in the NFL. Still bitter about Monday night I suspect. You do have a good point though. It would be very polite of the Patriots to run the ball every snap and go three and out for their opponent.

Fans in here really complaining about running up the score still?

Friggin stop them - how's that? It's the NFL. What a bunch of Nancys.

:tinfoilhat:

Maybe we should institute a mercy rule. Or spot weaker teams points against the Pats

There is no such thing as running up the score in the NFL. This is a battle between a 10-2 and 9-3 team. Don't want the other team to keep scoring? Play some defense.

I suspect Belichick has a special gameplan tailored for heavy snow days, to take advantage of defenses' inability to react to WRs making cuts and the like. That's why he has two massive blowouts in the last two games in these conditions. I'm sure Belichick would love to compete in a Super Bowl played outside in this weather in a northern city.
I don't think it's a special gameplan, but they do make some alterations. If you look at the receivers' routes, there's a lot less emphasis on making cuts to get YAC, and a lot more emphasis on straight line running. Watch the receivers on a screen and it seems like they start running forward before they get the ball. Watch the crossing routes and it seems like they're running more forward like a slant, not just straight across. That doesn't mean they aren't cutting, it just means that they tend to have momentum on their side when they do make their moves. Hester's best return was similar - he was running straight up the field, then made a sidestep here or there. It's hard to cut in the snow.

After the pick he should have run backwards to his one yard line and downed it, you know, just to make things fair.

Snow blowouts are the only ones that are fun to watch.Pats better be careful about injuries in 2nd half
They'll have their scrubs in midway through the 3rd quarter
Doubt it. I know it was the Jets, but Brady was throwing from the shotgun on first down up 38-3 on Monday night. No one but Brady will take a snap for the Pats. They want to score 70 every week.
That was the J-E-R-K offs. Belichick will let up on Lovie et al.
3-10-NE 29 (:03) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass short left to A.Hernandez to NE 44 for 15 yards (D.Manning). 2-10-NE 29 (:06) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass incomplete short right to W.Welker. 1-10-NE 29 (:16) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass incomplete short right to A.Hernandez (B.Urlacher).

Do you get enjoyment coming into this game thread being a troll just because the Packers lost??? Or is this normal behavior for you?

I'll take unknown rolling head smileys for 800 Alex.

All this does is gets the D real mad, and want to hurt someone. I love Belichick and how he never takes his foot off the throat, but at some point don't you have to think ahead and worry about the health of your star QB, and only chance to win anything?

Another myth, but from where I sit, the Bears have no interest in even playing this game, never mind mustering any energy to hurt somebody.

I have not been watching this game, but I think that happens a lot in these really ugly weather games. Once a team falls behind by a lot, especially early, they just want to get the game over with. It reminds me of the Titans losing 59-0 last year.

Believe me, I love throttling a team just as much as the next guy. And myths aside, wouldn't you rather see your backup QB getting mop up work, in this kind of weather, just in case something bad were to happen? As a fan of this team with all my hopes riding on the arm of Brady, I would not want him in the shotgun with 5 minutes left in a 36-7 blowout. As I'm typing this, BB comes to his senses.

I'm actually not a fan of anyone in the NFC North....I just find your posts annoying and immature.

Congrats Pat's fans for a beat down. Truly- the best team in the NFL is in NE. Not that you need it but best of luck the rest of the way. This is the class of the NFL

Agreed, I'm unbiased (Broncos fan) but I'm amazed at what NE has done the past few weeks and over the course of the season, especially after getting rid of Moss. Pretty incredible. I was not a believer until last week.

I agree, I also really questioned the trade for Branch. Moss for a 3rd....branch for a 4th....but it's turned out better than most have imagined. Hard to see anyone stopping NE at this point.

 I'm thinking they give the Pack a nice beatdown next week. I think it'll be much uglier than today's Bear game. :blackdot:

I'm thinking that they will get a beating especially w Rodgers possibly out (which he should be based on the NFL"s concussion rules). Glad I have NE D and when the team is kicking everyone"s butt the defense seems to step it up in December!

that was an awesome game.

was there really some dude in here crying about them running up the score in the second quarter, or was that just another shark pool pats troll?

NE proving they are the best team in the NFL...period.
I beg to differ. A game will be played 2 weeks from tomorrow to decide that.
New England at Buffalo?
I suspect he means ATL and NO.
Seriously...those teams couldn't beat teh NE practice squad players. I like Ryan but...31 points total (thanks to Turner)? And NO is just not that good this year. They are struggling with STL.
I'm not knockin' either of those teams --- new orleans certainly embarrassed the pats last year, but how did atlanta do.....?http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/boxscore;_ylt=...gid=20090927017

This is a bump for the thread that just got shut down. You have no room to talk about calling people 12 year olds Flash.
