Game Thread W17 - New England V Houston (1 Viewer)

So much for New England this year. They just got dominated by an 8-7 team.
Well, unfortunately I don't have high hopes for the playoffs myself but I don't fully get where you're coming from.(1) The Pats are a 10-6 team and Houston now 9-7, thus only marginally better. They Pats were already in the playoffs which sort of makes you play vanilla no matter how much you pretend you won't.(2) Houston has a great pass offense and is a very bad fit for New England as it is (which the Colts and Chargers also will be).(3) losing 27-34 isn't exactly domination although the yardage total goes very much in Houstons favor.(4) are you writing off your Vikings after the losses to Carolina (whom the Pats did beat) and Chicago as well?
You are forgetting that the Pats didn't really care if they won or they would have suited up their entire team and played everyone the full 60 minutes.

They played Brady all the way to the last INT. Then Hoyer came in for what, a couple minutes?Hard to argue they weren't trying to win. If that was the case Brady wouldn't have seen the 2nd quarter, Welker wouldn't have seen the field. Actions speak louder than words. Pats were indeed trying to win.I don't even know who you are saying they sat, since they didn't care to win - Brady, Moss, Welker, Watson all played for almost the entire game. This wasn't at all what the Colts or Saints did.

 The Pats wanted the win. The defense just let it slip away in the 4th quarter............

FlaVVed. The Pats benched some major contibutors before the game even started. If they wanted to win so bad, why was Hoyer in for the final two minutes and Moss not on the field?

What "major" contributors? :lmao:Why was Hoyer in and Moss not on the field? Because there were two minutes left, and Houston got back into the game due to a Brady INT. Pats clearly wanted to win when the game started... whether they decided with 2 minutes left that it didn't matter can be debated. But all evidence indicates they intended to win the game. If not, Brady and Moss would have sat as soon as Welker got injured. In fact, if they really didn't care, I doubt any of them would have seen more than the first quarter's play. It's sad Pats fans need so many excuses for their team's performances. Not trying to be antagonistic, but it's really ridiculous.

Wilfork, Warren, Maroney, Faulk, Bodden, and Wheatley all were inactive and could have played. I'm guessng the plan was to take Brady out when they did (5 minutes to go in the first half) but brought him back if they heard Welker was done for the season to get more reps with other receivers.

I'm guessing if they didn't really care if they won, they wouldn't have played Brady more than the first quarter. It's not like Brady hasn't played with Edelman this year. I think they thought they could win while resting those players :shrug:It'll be interesting to see them in the playoffs - they always play well when it counts.

Switz, if you didn't storm out, we could have a discussion of 53 pregame versus 45 man game day roster.

Oh well, you ran away because facts worked against you.

I hope you don't bet on football games because I am sure you have lost money. Listen to LHucks he may have some advice for you.

I don't think I've ever seen you post on this board before today, so I'm not sure what your issue is with me. I'm guessing you're just a rabid Pats fan ticked off your team isn't looking too good, and looking for someone to take it out on. Don't worry, I've got big enough shoulders for it.However, in regards to your last line, a lot of people would owe me money if I bet on football, as 6 weeks ago I called the Pats 10-6 record. That's a fact for you to chew on.

Any idea why Moss was in that last drive but not Brady? Play by play shows a deep attempt to Moss on the last drive. BTW, seems very clear to me that BB wanted to get Brady work with Edelman. Otherwise you'd have seen none of them beyond the 4 minute mark of the 1st half. I don't think they wanted to win. I think they wanted to see Edelman working against a desperate team in a "playoff type" scenario (win or go home for the Texans).

I read that Moss was not in on the last drive. But I do see him listed in the game recap, so clearly one of those is incorrect.
