Game Thread W17 - Pittsburgh V Baltimore (1 Viewer)

steelers pretty much mailing this one in while the chargers are going all out, i know the chargers control what happens but would think the steelers would want to give it a shot as well given that they could move to that 3 spot, especially since chargers are tied up still and not looking overly great

this game makes me want to take a nap

Pittsburgh is playing terribly. Scrubs or not, I don't think that's a good thing for next week. I thought they had more depth than this

Ogden is playing like he's 25 and just dominating at times. He's gonna be sorely missed

Scrubs? With the exception of Polamalu, isn't this pretty much the defense we'll be seeing in the playoffs? This team has gotten terrible real quickly.

In terms of talent on the field, this one is pretty close to a preseason game. The Ravens do have an intact oline and Derrick Mason to work with but they're down to backups at RB, TE and, of course, QB. Lots of guys playing for jobs and that makes them pretty hungry. I would've thought the Steelers would have been a little more motivated to avoid the Jax-New England playoff lineup that awaits them but now that San Diego is wrapping things up in Oakland, it looks like they're just trying to get out of town with minimal damage.

FTR, Troy Smith and Musa Smith have been pretty sharp today.

Are you not at all disturbed that the Steelers first team defense got destroyed today?

Uh, I'm a Ravens guy. Watching the Steelers defense get chewed up in Baltimore is a rare pleasure.FWIW, after the easy score and the onside kick recovery, the Steelers are poised to pull this one out against a tiring Ratbird defense.

Sorry thought you were a Steeler fan :lmao: . The Steelers are definitely back in it but the Ravens completely outplayed and outphysicaled them today. I'm not concerned as much about the Steelers offense but I'm very concerned with their defense.

No problem. We few Baltimorons here are a fairly low key bunch. It's hard to evaluate play in a game such as this but I have been very impressed with Troy Smith's accuracy and decision making today. He's been on the money in his short and mid-range throws.

Yeah I keep talking about how bad the Steelers defense is playing but thats not to take away from Smith. He looks extremely poised and confident out there and has been very good under pressure.

I don't know everybody on the Steelers roster but I know that they were without Ben, FWP, Hines Ward (a longtime Raven killer) and Polamalu today and still almost pulled this game out. That's a measure of just how bad Baltimore has been this year and why the talk radio shows are filled with people calling for Billick's head.

It doesn't matter who the Steelers had on the field they seemed to play with a lack of intensity..... and I saw plenty of Steeler starters missing tackles.... they've missed far too many tackles recently.... and their defense getting #####slapped again today is not a good sign with the Jags coming back to Pittsburgh next week.

If Ben plays up to his potential, the Steelers have a shot to win the game in a shootout. If Ben even plays an average game, they're done.

Yeah, they pretty much won't be able to stop Jax's running game so they'll have to outscore them. Maybe Ward won't drop two passes early in the game and they can start out strong offensively.

I don't think this week's games exactly makes Pittsburgh look less likely to beat Jacksonville... I mean, the Jags were handled pretty easily against Houston themselves today.

I'd agree with you if I hadn't seen the defense play so poorly in other recent games. Unfortunately, this wasn't an abberation but a continuation of a bad trend.

True. The Steelers have to have the worst #1 defense I have seen in recent memory.

Steelers played embarrasing football today. They need to get their act together in a hurry or the offseason starts about 11:00 Saturday night.

I foresee a shootout with Jacksonville. The Jags won't have too much problem scoring on Pittsburgh, but the Steelers with Roethlisberger have enough firepower to keep pace. I'm envisioning a 30-27 type of game.
