Game Thread W3 - New England V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

Good game Pats. NE was the better team today and deserved that win. That PI at the 4 was BS and NE overcame the elements and several bad breaks. Great game, we'll be seeing you guys again. :football:

 Good game by the Steelers, too. I was impressed with Parker, Ward and Wilson, and although he didn't have a very good game, Roethlisberger made some very nice plays. This was one of the most exciting games I've watched in a long time. I sure hope we get a playoff rematch.

By far some of the worst coaching I've seen in the past few years by the Steelers in the second half.
Correct. He virtually ignored the run in the 2nd half. Big reason for the loss.
Problem he does that every year in KEY games.
It wasn't just the run game, it was the clock management, it was the defensive calls. Just terrible. Once again, this game shows who's the more superior coach.

i think it was interference, but i did not like the fact that the ref seemed to wait until it was not caught. it was kind of an after-thought. oh well, it was a penalty and it all worked out in the end.

I've always felt that if PIT had a bettet coach, they could be a Pats like team.

You could say that about almost any team, if they had belichick, they'd be a great team. Steelers though, I don't understand why they passed so much. It wasn't working, Roethlisberger was overthrowing alot of receivers. Along with a few other bonehead moves, and Randle-El playing pretty much the dumbest football game in recent history, the avoidance of running the ball is why they lost.

But look at how much the Pats passed. Big Ben can pass. Brady and Adam V won the game. I really didn't feel Cowher lost the game.

Big Ben can pass WHEN THE RUNNING GAME IS THE FOCAL POINT. When they pass more than they run, Big Ben will look bad like he did today. And don't tell me the Pats shut Willie Parker down. This is the type of game where you need to ride your runner.

Cowher continues to coach to not lose instead of coaching to win the game. 4 and 1 inside 10 you must go for the throat when you are playing the world champs instead of settling for fgs all the time.

What would you call 17 carries for 55 yds if not shut down? NE was winning the battles up front. Ben passes well when the running game is EFFECTIVE. It was not effective. Not once the whole game. Granted I would have liked to see them try more with a lead the whole 1st half, but still NE was stopping them from running.

Yea, but you don't stop running the ball even when your running game is slowed down. Big Ben can't carry this team. He can be an effective play-action QB, but when everyone knows he's going to pass, he doesn't do very well. And generally, even if you are stopped early in the game, if you keep running it eventually the yards-per-carry will increase. I'm sure that would have been the case today.

Good game.By the way, any Steelers fan that blames their coaching for this loss is looking for an excuse. The Pats pushed Pittsburgh around for much of the game. The Patriots front four was HUGE pretty much all game long.

Randle El and the offensive lineman whose false start cost them three points should be tarred and feathered. Typical clutch performance by Brady and Vinatieri. When they got the ball back with over a minute left, did anyone really think they weren't going to score?

I don't think he is fishing at all. In my opinion the Steelers o-line played an awful game. They didn't run block very well and for the most part Ben was running for his life. The Patriots o-line on the other hand gave Brady lots of time, especially in the 4th quarter. For the Steelers there is plenty of blame to go around but it all starts with the offensive line. The Randle El lateral was also huge too...

The Pats pushed Pittsburgh around for much of the game was a reach. And last time I looked, coaching was a pretty big part of football and not an "excuse".
