Bills look dreadful this half.
McKelvin has been abused in every single game so far this year. He's horrible. When McGee gets back, McKelvin needs to go to the bench. He has no ability to actually cover receivers. He has no awareness of where the ball is and he's S-L-O-W.I don't think you can blame McKelvin for that one. Yes, he was behind Green, but you would rather that he let Green get behind him in single coverage? And by my calculations, Green jumped 27 feet into the air to snag that ball. I don't think any defense was going to stop that.
Yeah, but the defense has been asleep at the switch this half, so it's kind of cheap to blame it all on that.I haven't been watching the game, but Matt Warren and Joe Buscaglia have been complaining all game on Twitter about Bills being held pretty blatantly by Bengal O-linemen. Any truth to that?
There was a pretty bad no-call on Andre Smith at one point in the first half; Dalton ended up throwing the ball out of bounds on the play.I haven't really seen much otherwise. The Bills just aren't playing well...it's not the refs fault.'GroveDiesel said:I haven't been watching the game, but Matt Warren and Joe Buscaglia have been complaining all game on Twitter about Bills being held pretty blatantly by Bengal O-linemen. Sure. They did complain that there was a pretty bad hold on the Bengal's TD though. DBs need to keep coverage, but if the defender can get to the QB or at least alter his throw, then that certainly helps the DBs a ton.'IvanKaramazov said:Yeah, but the defense has been asleep at the switch this half, so it's kind of cheap to blame it all on that.'GroveDiesel said:I haven't been watching the game, but Matt Warren and Joe Buscaglia have been complaining all game on Twitter about Bills being held pretty blatantly by Bengal O-linemen. Refs uphold the incomplete call.I'm not one to bag on the refs, but that is a horrible call.Fitz to Stevie quick slant on a 3rd-and-1 called incomplete. Review fairly clearly shows it's a catch.Let's see what the refs say after review. Big call here.
Seems like all their games end on the last play.Best entertainment every week is the end of Buffalo vs AnyoneAnother big ending this week.
Well, the offense couldn't get it done. Now we just to rely on the defense.Time to find out what the Bills are made of (for the 3rd straight week).

We don't have much of a pass rush in general.I'm baffled as to why the Bills haven't blitzed Dalton all day. Rookie QB and they're giving him all day in the pocket.
I used to be friends with him on Facebook. He must have unfriended me. :sad:This game is ending with the Bills defense getting obliterated by Brian Leonard. Yeah, really.
The rule may suck, but the call was correctly made (as far as I understand it) based on the letter of the law. If any questionable ref call "cost the Bills the game", it was the "incompletion" to Stevie Johnson which was pretty clearly a catch. Still, though, if the Bills had taken it to em, those calls wouldn't have mattered. The Bengals absolutely dominated that second half, and save for the last 5 minutes of the 2nd quarter where the Bills picked off Dalton twice, the first half was pretty even, IMO.Annnnnd, the tuck play ends up costing the Bills the game. Along with Fitzpatrick's horrible accuracy today and the absolutely atrocious defense.
That's stupid. Yes, the third down call on Stevie Johnsons was ludicrous. There was absolutely no justification for calling it an incompletion on the field, and the replay clearly showed that it was a catch too. But if you can't overcome a call like that against a team like the Bengals (no offense intended to Bengals fans, but I think we can all agree that they're a weak team), you really don't have anything to complain about when you lose.Facebook blowing up with a million posts about the refs costing the Bills the game.
That drove me crazy, too. I don't mind not blitzing Brady, but a rookie? C'mon. Terrible coaching by the defensive staff - absolutely terrible.I'm baffled as to why the Bills haven't blitzed Dalton all day. Rookie QB and they're giving him all day in the pocket.
Bills are still leading or near the lead in interceptions and they could have had 2 defensive touchdowns today. They had a rough game but did make some big plays when the offense couldn't really get anything going.Dave Wanny defense coordinator by week 6?
The defense is really bad. But in fairness to the coaching staff, there isn't much talent there. Basically we have two good DTs, one pretty good LB, and that's seriously about it. There's nobody on this team who can rush the passer, and at least one of our CBs (whose name rhymes with McDelvin) is a liability in the passing game. The D is better than last year's, but the 2010 defense was historically bad so that isn't saying much.IMO, Bills fans should be happy with the improvement on offense, should enjoy the fact that the team is entertaining and might be in contention for a wild card berth later in the season, and realize that we're really a year or so away from doing anything for real.Bills are still leading or near the lead in interceptions and they could have had 2 defensive touchdowns today. looked like most of the upper deck was empty today.Maybe people will actually start going to games so its not blacked out for once.
It is awesome though, because tomorrow all I am going to hear is that stupid Who Dey chant. CAN'T WAIT.looked like most of the upper deck was empty today.Maybe people will actually start going to games so its not blacked out for once.
Who Dey!!Thoughts from a Bengals fan:
And thoughts from another Bengals fan
Agent Orange started rough, again, but damn this kid plays well down the stretch. I dont know what it is, but he really shows poise and plays his best ball when it matters.
Agree. He looked like hell for the entire first half. The kid has intangibles that make him a winner, though, it's clear. Really cool under pressure it seems and doesn't let bad mistakes get to him.
THIS is how you get fans in the stands. You win games as underdogs, you put up points and you play good defense. Nice work fellas.
Hiring a GM still would help as well...but seriously this is a fun team to watch.
Classic team effort game.
Especially by the defense. Loved how they handled Buffalo's offense today.
AJ Green killed em. 118 yds Rec, could have had a score without the stumble. As a rookie #1 WR, he has shown he will be a beast of a player.
The kid is special. He made Dalton's stat line look a lot better as both of those long-gainers he caught were underthrown (the first one he snagged, badly). Kid's gonna make us forget all Bengal WRs past. And that's hard to do as we've always had talent at WR.
Gresham - 70 yds Rec and a beautiful TD. Again showing he can potentially be in the upper echelon of Witten, Gates, Gronkowski.
Really stepped up after a quiet first half where he was hardly targeted. It always looks like he's got a mismatch when he's making a catch
Benson - 104 yds Ru. Ran hard and with purpose once again. Heard him say before the game they were mad how they started, and damn he showed it.
Agreed this is what Benson brings when he brings it. Looked great. Kinda liked the sequence during the Scott drive in the first half where they went Scott on the first two downs and spelled him Benson doing a power run. Random props to Brian Leonard with yet another super hero play (2 in fact!) to close out the game - one of those guys who's worth way more than his stats. Also gotta give props to Pressley at FB today..
Dalton - Once again a tale of two halves. If he can stop putting himself behind the eight ball early, he could be good. Mostly impressed that he came back and showed great poise and forgot the bad breaks early on (fluke INT), the bad INT, and drove down the field for the tie and the win. Some have said he doesn't have the arm, the height, the speed, but the kid is a winner and a leader. The last guy with height and an arm couldn't make that claim.
See what I said above. I still wish he had better accuracy on his long throws but when he gets in a groove like he did in the 2nd half he's awesome. Love the kid.
The Nooog came through with huge game winner.
Yeah. Only wish he was given the chance in Denver![]()
The defense played tough ball against a good offense.

Very happy for these guys today, they deserve it.
Nice to win a game in this fashion.
As far as whining about refs, aside from the S. Johnson catch, not much to really be up in arms about. Even that, there simply wasn't enough to overturn it. If it was called a catch on the field, it stands just the same.
Looked like there was one angle on the S. Johnson catch that seemed to show ball on the ground - probably gave enough doubt that they didn't overturn it. I think if it were ruled a catch on the field that it would've stayed a catch. Oh wait you said the same thing.
I'm sort of going to plagiarize Mike Schopp here, but I love him for stuff like this so can't help myself. This league is so full of obscure/convoluted technicalities that it's real easy to leave itself 'outs' and claim that any bad call was correct. They can just selectively enforce this tuck rule once every couple years and every announcer and analyst just goes along with it. But not once has anyone ever complained the other 17 times it wasn't enforced. Seriously, have you ever heard anyone say "ya know I don't think that fumble shoulda counted - tuck rule"? Of course not. Same thing with this Giants-Cardinals game that just happened. The rule may suck, but the call was correctly made (as far as I understand it) based on the letter of the law. If any questionable ref call "cost the Bills the game", it was the "incompletion" to Stevie Johnson which was pretty clearly a catch. Yeah, I will say that this is truly baffling. They've pretty much played a straight defense every game so far with almost no blitzing at all. I forget where I read it, but in last week's game against the Patriots, they blitzed like 4 times all game. They're getting zero pressure on QBs and it's killing the team. The DBs clearly can't cover speed receivers deep, so the front 7 HAS to be able to put pressure on the QB. And they're absolutely NOT doing it playing straight defense. I believe they're dead last in the league in sacks. And, I was quick to keep singing his praises last year so I have to be honest about him this year, Kyle Williams has been non-existent in both the run and pass game. I'm not sure if his role has changed or what, but he's not only not showing up in the stat line, he's just not making any type of impact on the field at all. That drove me crazy, too. I don't mind not blitzing Brady, but a rookie? C'mon. Terrible coaching by the defensive staff - absolutely terrible.I'm baffled as to why the Bills haven't blitzed Dalton all day.
