Game Thread W4 - Pittsburgh V Arizona (2 Viewers)

After the offside penalty on Pitt, Warner comes in for Leinart.

2ND and 7: Warner pass batted down by Pitt line.

3rd and 7: (Leinart back in after 1 play); hand off to Edge for about 6. Little short of 1st.

4 and 1: AZ to go for it. Leinart sneak. Measurement to come. (Doesn't look like a good spot).

1st down!

1st and 10: Bullet to Bryant Johnson. 1st down.

1st and 10: Edge run for 2.

2nd and 8: Leinart on some roll out. (Real bad looking play) Throws out of the end zone.

Penalty on AZ: ineligible player downfield on AZ; declined. 3rd down

3rd and 8: Edge run. 1st down. Nice run

1st and goal AZ. 4:42 remains

I am not counting on FWP earning me any more points today. It looks as if Pitt will air it out when they get the ball back. Hopefully the next few games FWP can return to his old form. Today is a wash. What a surprise. I think that Tomlin is going to have to look at his play calling because everything I have heard is that today the play calling today has been bland.

WR's dropped a fair amount of passes today as well.

Ben sacked with less than 20 remaining.

Holding on Pitt. Penalty declined.

3rd and 18. (:18 remaining)

INT. Game over.

Steelers got their asses kicked today. I don't think they played very well, but I'll give all the credit to the Cards... they played great.

Unfortunately, this game reminded me of last year; defense can't get off the field on third downs, turnovers in/near the endzone, and poor special teams play (although it was really just the one play, but obviously that was huge).

I never expected the Steelers to go undefeated and 3-1 is still a good start, but we STILL don't really know how good they are.

I thought they should have gone to the no-huddle offense sooner in an attempt to spark their offense. I realize the no-huddle drive at the end was against the prevent defense and it really has no bearing on why I'm say this, and it's not an indication that it would have worked that well earlier in the game.... but they should have tried it sooner since pretty much nothing else was working. And what's with all the 3rd and 20+ yards.... something ain't right when that happens 3 times in a game.

Big time Steelers homer here... biggest turning point in this game was late in the 3rd qtr, Steelers get to Warner, recover a fumble at the Arizona 4 yard line. Willie up the middle twice but couldn't punch it in. On 3rd and goal, Ben scrambles out of a bit of pressure and instead of throwing the ball away and taking the sure 3, he tried to force it into double coverage and got picked in the end zone. HORRIBLE decision and one that really bothers me. He should know better than that. You're given a gift field goal off a turnover and get greedy only to come away with nothing.

They should have gone up 10-7, putting more pressure on the Cards. Instead, they get a lift and gain confidence.

Bad decision by Ben.

Also didn't like a few really crucial penalties throughout the game... couple false starts, big offside on a 3rd down, 15yd unsportsmanlike from Ike Taylor... those aren't things I'm used to seeing from the Stillers.

It's fine though, they were outplayed in the end and it should serve as a nice wakeup call.

I also thought this was the key play of the game. Right after a bad turnover that could have demoralized the Cards, the Stillers instead get zip out of it.I was impressed today not only with the defensive intensity shown by Arizona -- a lot better than that on display in Baltimore last week -- but also with the large and vocal crowd. I know there were a bunch of Pittsburgh fans there (there always are, they travel great) but perhaps the new regime can ignite a new era of fan interest in what has previously been a rare NFL wasteland.

I wasn't crazy about the play calling after the fumble recovery. I have no problem running FWP on 1st down, but they tried running Parke up the middle again on 2nd down where everyone was packed in. They should have spread out a little to get a little running room. From that formation I would have rolled Ben out and run a bootleg -- Ben could have easily made a two yard run and at worst he runs out of bounds or throws it away.I sure hope Ward's injury isn't serious because Nate Washington wasn't very good. It looked to me like he slowed down a little on the long pass that was just out of his reach. Had he run full speed I think the pass would have been on the money. There was another pass where he dove, had two hands on it, but dropped the ball. It was a tough catch but he should have had it IMO. There were also a couple runs to his side that could have gone for big gains if he would have made his block. It sounds funny but Ward really makes a difference in the running game.In any case the Cards were the better team yesterday and deserved the win. Hopefully Ward, Polamalu, and Hampton will be back next week.

I thought that the Steelers play calling was horrendous most of the game. I had flashbacks to last year's team. Tomlin and Arians got outcoached plain and simple. Tomlin is a young coach hopefully he learns something out of this type of game. Just because your team is 3-0 does not guarantee you a victory just by showing up at the staduim.

I put Fitz in over S. Holmes because of FBGs Cheetsheets. Last minute change :lmao:

I wish I would of trusted my gut

ah...thanks, not sure how it applies to me. I wasn't using anything as excuse...I haven't even lost the game yet. If Palmer and Maroney have average games I will win tonight.
