Bill is a long play and always was. Stay the course, especially if you got him for pennies.
It's kind of foolish to put a bunch of stock in the game tonight with Mariota and the touches he got. KC is tough. Daniels will make a difference and they just got Scary Terry back. Give his career time to develop. They need much better OL play, for one.

Odds are he is replaced by another RB next year. If he doesn't, without a doubt, take over the RB stable THIS year, he never will. RBs are constantly recycled and washed out of the league. Especially if they don't carry lofty draft capital.

Every carry I saw him take he was met by defenders in his face. One time his lead blocker side stepped the linebacker and Bill was facemask to facemask the moment he was handed the ball. Oline has been terrible the past two weeks.
I would hold in dynasty
Redraft - I’m considering other options but he’s still above a few guys on my bench.

They aren’t taking a RB high in the draft. They have devalued the RB position more than most teams.
I disagree that a rookie HAS to take over the RB stable role n his first year but to your point, he appears to have done that in training camp as evidence by the trading of Robinson and getting the majority of the 1st down carries.
This is a lot of ifs, but…
IF Daniels and the WRs can come back healthy and
IF Was can win a few games so that they aren’t out of playoff contention and
IF they decide to give him an extended look in plays other than running up the middle
THEN weeks 15-17 look pretty good NYG, PHI, then a very juicy DAL matchup for the championship

Drop in redraft. Washington looks lost. He looks like a deer in the headlights. Like so many average NFL teams, injuries are resulting in disappointing game scripts and pedestrian returns.

Commanders players are some of the most frustrating ones to own this year. I have no Bill shares but I am not surprised to see him struggle when the entire O has only played a handful of snaps all healthy.
If/when Jayden and Terry are 100%, then they should score a lot more and get Bill more chances.

But if he’s “special” he should be able to be at least “average” against good defenses. He’s been bad the last 3 weeks, even against Dallas who has been awful against the run. Had a couple good weeks, but I watched the whole Chargers games and he had a couple big runs where he wasn’t touched until he scored or was pushed out of bounds. Chargers D-line was banged up and he had huge holes to run through.
Fine to be excited about a guy you got late in almost every league, but the excuse that he played a tough defense last night is not valid unless you’re also going to point out that his big game was against a beat up defense that didn’t have the bodies to stop the run that night.

The team had 11 RB carries total last night (7 targets) against 30 passes. And, that's with Mariota at QB and a one score game for the first 42 minutes. This was Kingsbury's problem in college and in Arizona. Dude never met a pass play that he didn't love.

This season they're at a 52.5% 47.5% split with the RBs getting 139 carries compared to 62 for the QBs.
For his entire coaching history Kingsburry underutilizes his RBs and overexposes his QBs to hits.
I understand guys like Murray and Daniels and, even Mariota are assets with their feet but, Kingsbury needs to be smarter with the usage of his QBs. They don't do the team much good from the trainers table.
I don't expect anything to change as long as he's the OC.

He should be average against good defenses? We're 8 games into his rookie season, lol. Washington has been bad on offense this season not to mention big-time injuries. I've said this before, but if you don't see the talent by now, you never will. I was only busting your chops earlier when I said you were counting your chickens before they hatch, but I think t's a prime example of formulating a final opinion with a minuscule amount of data.
BTW, I only have Bill in one league, but he's got the ability to be a top FF RB. Getting him cheap does help with being patient, though. It's ok to be on either side of this, but it's WAY too early to make a final determination. Bill could bust. This hobby is highly speculative, after all. I'm not wrong very often with a flag plant, but it's certainly possible. He might not break out until next season. There's a long way to go yet. I'll be around if I end up being wrong so you can remind me, but I doubt it.

Even if they take a RB in the 5th next year (or 6th), that is higher draft capital than Bill. Thus pushing Bill further down the bench. That is why I am saying he has got to prove that he is head and shoulders the best RB on the roster and is irreplaceable. My opinion is if he doesn't show to the coaching staff that he is a great, not good, talent...he will have competition next year if not this year (trade deadline).

I mostly meant a day-1 or day-2 RB. I obviously believe Bill will be able to beat out a typical day-3 RB. Whether they take one on day-3 depends on what they think of their depth. They have way too many other needs to take a top RB prospect, IMO, and they're high on Bill to begin with.

Special? You mean like Henry against a Houston with 15/33 or against Cleveland with 11/23. Oh, but he is old.
What about Barkley against Minnesota with 18/44, Tampa Bay with 19/43, or LA with 18/46.
Bill has had two games below 3 ypc.
ETA: He is 3rd in success rate at 59.8 behind Tyren Williams and James Cook.
He has a 4.9 ypc average. He seems to be doing ok.

That's actually a good reminder what can happen with less than ideal circumstances. I mean, look at Barkley this season. Before last week, he was barely averaging 3 YPC through 7 games and most people feel he's had a much better situation than Bill so far. It's amazing how quickly people will give up on a young player with promise.
That said, we may not see Bill even sniff his ceiling until next season with the way Washington's offense is looking. Hard to say.

Way different. Barkely has a contact and history. If Bill doesn't show something this year they are going to draft or sign his replacement. You are talking about a late pick, not Barkley, or evern a bust like Trent Richardson.

Sure, but I wasn't comparing Bill to Barkley.
I was pointing out how important situation is. For example, Jeanty is as an unproven player who many believe has a lot of talent, but isn't in an ideal situation.

I think a lot of the naysayers sold Bill early on the hype. They obviously want those deals to work out and that's ok.
The vast majority of people got Bill dirt cheap and don't have any reason to panic. If you didn't get him cheap, that's a little bit of a different story, but the worst thing you could do is bail on the cheap.

No, you weren't high on Bill and you wanted to take a rookie pick that has an iffy chance of hitting, especially the RB class next year. Rookie picks are overvalued, in general, and it's not like '26 is loaded. You passed on a talented rookie RB who is the starter on a good offense when things are right. Washington has stated many times how they feel about Bill. Adam Peters is a pretty dang good evaluator.
You took a clear risk moving Bill and that's not something that's negotiable...just like those who decided to keep him. It's never a good idea to count your chickens before they hatch.

The way Washington is playing, I expect the next couple matchups to be pretty tough too, after that we might start seeing good things again. I'd say now is the time to buy low.

Why does this thread get so much attention? I don't get it.
JCM was a late pick, had all the injury luck you could hope for, and is already a roster clogger. He's fool's gold, people! You should've sold him in dynasty leagues for a 2nd+, rostered the Vidal's of the waiver world, and had that 2nd in your back pocket later in the season if you're contending and need points.

Further down? He's at the top of the bench, the only place to go is down, not further down. And, a 5th or 6th isn't exactly enough draft capital to push an incumbent starter down the bench just based on draft capital.

I agree with this. It’s not a good argument to say a 5th or 6th round RB replaces JCM just because he was drafted in the 7th. Very bad argument. Both Priest Holmes and Arian Foster were undrafted free agents.

Only thing to do in dynasty is hold and hope for better days when the team is healthier.
Daniels’ return will do wonders for that entire offense.
If they can play decent defense to keep game scripts neutral JCM is going to be the RB1 on a very good offense. Also, “If” is doing alllllll the heavy lifting in this paragraph.
Next year could be significantly better. The potential is there. He showed legit promise when the team was cookin.
For redraft, he’s droppable unless you have a deep bench spot for him.
