Game Thread W6 - Houston V Jacksonville (1 Viewer)

Jaguars inactives: Josh Scobee, LaBrandon Toefield, Aaron Glenn, Pat Thomas, Richard Collier, Uche Nwaneri, Kenny Pettway and Reggie Hayward.

Texans inactives: Jamar Fletcher, Ron Dayne, Shantee Orr, Zach Diles, Kasey Studdard, Rashad Butler, Andre Johnson and Jeb Putzier.

With Ahman Green starting Schaub will be able to be a quarterback again...

Look for Owen Daniels and Andre Davis to have big games...

I expect the Texans DL to also have a big game...

Texans by double digits...

Last Play: J.Carney kicks onside 69 yards from JAX 30 to HST 1, impetus ends at HST 1. M.Turk to HST 1 for no gain.
What happened?
That recap in not correct.Carney ran up tp the ball as if he were going to kick it normally. He actually just dinked it straight in front of him and the ball rolled 10 yards with Carney in pursuit. The Jags blockers ran ahead of the slow rolling ball and formed a wedge blowing the Houston blockers back (they were also caught by surprise). Carney fell on the ball and there were no Houston players within 10 yards of him.

Fred Taylor was on the sidelines with his helmet off stretching his legs. I'm wondering if he's not going to return.

Probably no reason for him or MJD to go back in. Game is a blow out, might as well keep them out, especially if Fred's groin is still hurting.

Thoughts from todays game:

1. The start of the game had me flashing back to last year versus the Texans (and 2004 for that matter). I was impressed by the effort after a mistake-filled, lackluster first quarter.

2. I get excited whenever Maurice is in the game. I know how much Fred Taylor has meant to this team, but MJD is a threat every time he touches the ball. I've read so many negative things about him prior to this week (such as he sucks, one year wonder, etc..), that it is great to see him perform.

3. After the season opener, I was more than worried about our rush defense. They've performed admirably since. They are showing good gap discipline and are active once again.

4. Garrard is playing so well. He doesn't look like the jumpy, error prone QB that we saw at the end of last year. It's good to see him go through his progressions and find alternate receivers. I'm impressed and surprised. I still don't agree with the timing of the Leftwich release, but it looks like a good decision. I hope he can keep this level of play up.

5. The O-line was fantastic today. Outside of a couple of missed assignments and the sack to open up the game, they were on point today. Having Brad Meester back is a boon for the offense.

6. Matt Jones performed up to his usual "high-level" of play.

7. Reggie Williams descends from planet Zircon-9 every once in a while to do something well. But those fumbles could have cost the game.

8. The pass D looks off this year. I attribute it to a lack of pass-rush from the ends.

9. Davis gave us a gift with that fumble and kept us in it early.

10. Matt Schaub has some serious skills. I imagine that once Andre Johnson comes back, the Texans O will be damn hard to stop in and near the red zone.

Awful game by the Texans today. Couldn't get any pressure on Garrard, made some costly penalties on defense and stupid turnovers by the offense. I'm not sure Andre Johnson would have helped much today with the team constantly shooting itself in the foot. The o'line which has been mostly solid to start out the season looked like the paper thin o'line of years past.

Credit to the Jags today, they played a great game. First time I've ever really paid attention to MJD, but the guy is good. His short height helps I think, seemed extremely difficult to tackle. The play call to onside kick the ball I think won the Jags the game. Ran the time off, got them a FG but most importantly gave their team all the momentum and energy going into the 2nd half when they would start with possesion of the ball.

And this is like 3rd Texans game I've seen so far this year where the officiating has been downright awful. I especially liked the missed delay of game on 1st and 7 at the start of the 4th quarter.
