Game Thread W7 - Pittsburgh V Arizona (1 Viewer)

Only saw highlights of the game, but Kolb's stat line looks...pretty decent considering it was the Steelers. Kolb threw for 100 yards more than the Steelers have given up on avg.

Kolb runs backwards when there's no pressure on him on every single play and in that 2 point conversion attempt he throws the ball away? The guy isn't very bright.
fixed

He actually does that every week? And the coaches don't get him to stop? Oof.
I noticed this in week one. I'm just as befuddled. In fact during the game today, I had seen enough and asked the Cards beat writer via twitter if the Cards are intentionally coaching Kolb to roll backwards to his right on every play and throw off his backfoot. No wonder Big Ben hated Whiz.

Stat line is definitely deceiving here, specifically with Stephens-Howling taking a dumpoff 70+ yards for a TD. Kolb displayed good accuracy for quick throws that went under 15 yards. But if no one was open after the 3 step drop, he showed absolutely no ability to make a play. He'd scramble backwards to his right when there was no pressure, he took a safety that was 100% on him, and he threw a 2 point conversion attempt away to avoid a sack which makes no sense at all. As Card Trader says, a good portion of why he looked so bad is due to bad coaching; a lot of Kolb's problems seem pretty easily fixable for any competent coaching staff. But Kolb needs to do a way better job of moving around in the pocket to avoid pressure instead of just running backwards if no one is immediately open after he finishes his drop back.

We have the worst coaching staff in the league...by a good margin. They can't coach up ANYONE. Kolb has a ton to learn, but he won't learn anything from this staff. There is a reason the Steelers didn't want Whisenhunt, the only reason the Cardinals had ANY success is because of Kurt Warner and how amazing he was. He masked the multiple deficiencies of the coaching staff.Tired of washed up Pittsburgh retreads. Players AND coaches.

So glad I didn't go to the game today.
:bag: I had a field box today for a little company party. I got to go down to the field before the game and hang out. It was very cool.

What a horrible game. First of all, there were so many Steeler fans there it was crazy. And Kolb sucks. And so does the coaching staff. This team is in a world of hurt right now, and there's no easy way out.

We have no WR 2. We have no offensive line. We have no defensive line. We have no DB's. Where do you start fixing this?

Yep. And a lot of yards came on the last TD drive when the Steelers just handed us a score.

He's got Rex Grossman disease -- he has happy feet and retreats whether there's pressure or not. He's 27 years of age -- old habits don't die. He's looked far far far far worse than his season stat line shows. He's been no better than Don McNabb. Fortunately for Kolb, he's 27 & paid silly money for a guy that's done nothing & not about to turn 35 like McNabb. He's a bridge QB. Unfortunately the Cards paid him to be a franchise one. I guess if that's what it took to keep Fitz, so be it. However, don't compound the problem by passing on Luck. (I really do believe they'll be right in the thick of it with him. This is a horrific team w/o Beanie. A bad one with him)

6 games in to the Kolb era and reporters are already asking Whiz if he's considering a QB change. :lmao:per Kent Somers twitter:

Whiz said will evaluate what they're doing and who they're doing it with. Asked if that meant a change at QB, said, "I'm not saying that."
