I live by Chatfield Resivoir and it is coming down!

Is Denver one of those fields that have a heating system under the turf, thus keeping accumulation under control?

So would we start Henry if we had him?
I would. DEN has underachieved so far this year and a primetime game in the snow is just what they need. Factor in also that Henry may only be playing for a few more weeks and I think he will be playing for next year tonight.

Hey Pittsburgh homers - how has Ben done in bad weather? I have Holmes and am doubtful I'm going to start him this week. TIA.

I am curious about this as well. And even if so, will the field be sloppy at all? I would think a sloppy field would play better for a back like Davenport than one like Parker and I am really not sure who in Denver would do better with something of that nature.

Does this bump up Elam? First time I've had him on a team, but guessing he's used to snow while kicking. Wondering if Denv bogs down even more to give him so FG oppurtunities.

I don't think it matters if it is snowing now. The question is will it snow tonight? According to the the forecast it appears the snow will be done by then and I'm sure the field will be fine. 1-3 inches are forecast for today.

So is the snow mean a low scoring game? Or does this affect the running game only becuase of a slippery track? Or does it hurt the passing game because it is hard to see? Or does it help because the CBs can't get traction? Help! I don't know what to make of the report of snow.

I think I am sitting Marshall and Holmes for Welker just because of it.

Has anyone ever seen a stats analysis of bad weather games? Does a sloppy field favor the offense or defense?

I think it favors passing game for the offense, but favors run defense.

It favors whoever can get the ball to their player in some open space.

Exactly, if it is snowing then I would upgrade the passing games. If it isn't snowing at game time then we could be discussing a non-issue.

Yes it has heating under the field. I'm also sure it will be covered till sometime this afternoon and should be in good shape at game time. At my house it is coming down hard, it is wet snow as well - we will see if it clears out. Being a weather person in Colorado is about the most useless thing imaginable.

... i recall a game in a VERY sowy Denver, perhaps 3 or so seasons ago, where Kerry Collins and Jerry Porter WENT OFF. It was blizzard like conditions, and i recall Collins chucking it at will (with much success).

It's letting up :wall:

I won't be going skiing until we get a better base.

Sorry boss, calling in sick... mmm powder.

I live south in Colorado Springs and it has been snowing most of the day without any of it sticking. Now the sun is out, but it is cold as heck. This storm was supposed to be out of here tonight, but the one thing that could be a factor is the wind.

I said in the other thread that my sleeper of the week is Scheffler--I look for a nice game from him tonight.

From Andrew Mason's blog:

...We wait for the snow to stop falling, as is forecast for later in the afternoon. Of course, the ski resorts probably want it to keep dropping on the Mile High City, but I would like as safe a drive as possible coming back from the stadium for not only the 75,000-plus who’ll be there tonight, but also for me at 5 a.m. Monday morning, so the sooner it pauses, the more benign the now-slick roads will be after temperatures descend into the 20s tonight. The weather shouldn’t have much of an effect on the game tonight; the field is covered until the players begin warming up and the majority of the precipitation should have passed.

If so good call

Streets in my neighborhood (about 7 miles from the stadium) are already bone dry.

But substantial gusting winds.

I'm still starting Brandon Marshall as he can break tackles on short routes and get plenty of YAC.

The first news is bad news for the Broncos, as the verdict has come in on Champ Bailey — inactive.

After a week that saw him held out of practice on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and limited on Friday, he was scratched from the 45-man game-day active roster because of the strained quadriceps muscle he incurred two weeks ago against San Diego.

Domonique Foxworth is expected to start in his place.

Joining Bailey among the inactives are safety Hamza Abdullah, running back Andre Hall, fullback Mike Bell, defensive tackle Amon Gordon, defensive end Simeon Rice, guard Isaac Snell and wide receiver Javon Walker, who underwent knee surgery on Friday.

Walker is expected to be replaced in the starting lineup by Brandon Stokley. Gordon, who is listed on the first team at defensive tackle, is inactive for the second time in three games; he was also scratched for the Sept. 30 loss at Indianapolis.

Rookie Marcus Thomas is expected to start in place of Gordon.

So with Bailey out what does that mean for Holmes/Ward? Who will cover who?
Traditionally, Bailey plays LCB, covering whatever WR lines up on the right side of the offensive formation, and Bly is the converse. With Bailey out, I'm not sure if they'll stick with this plan, putting Foxworth in at LCB, or if they'll shift Bly and put Foxworth in on the right side. I'd guess the former, but we should be able to determine this early on in the game.Definitely consider at list a marginal up tick in Ward/Holmes projections based on this information.

With Bailey out, does this make Ben a better play? Will he throw or do the Steelers stick to the ground?
They throw a little more then they run until they get a nice lead. Then its all running.Maybe because of Denvers lack of run stoppage this year, it could be a heavy run evening.Ben has to be a better play with Champ out, more chance of getting someone free on a deep pattern as well as more chances for bites on the play action fakes.

Lucky or unlucky for me, I can change players until five minutes until gametime and put in Ben over Garrard. I have this guy feeling that Ben will do well tonight in addition to a solid ground attack, but it is tough to pull the trigger and second guess myself. Bailey sitting seems to be a signal...

I'm pretty sure there are more Steelers fans than Broncos fans on the MB. Nevertheless, this should be a fun game and a fun thread tonight.
