"I wouldn't want to wear Green Bay stuff coming to our stadium -- no way," Ryan said yesterday when asked about the Packers' reputation for packing opposing stands with their green-and-gold-clad fans.
"This is our fans, our team," Ryan continued. "I don't know if a Packer fan would want to waste his time coming to this environment. But if they travel well, they travel well. We'll see. As long as they travel home mad and disappointed with the game, that's fine with me."
That wasn't the only time that Ryan made what seemed like a joking reference to roughing up Packers fans.
Ryan said he would stay out of the Fox-Cablevision dispute that threatens to keep the game off television for many local viewers, but he trusted Jets fans to find alternative means to see the game.
"If it doesn't get worked out, they'll find ways to see it, whatever it is," he said. "I'm not saying go to your local establishment, but go to your local establishment.
"Hopefully, they'll have the game on there [and fans can] pound a couple of beers.
I'm not responsible if they pound somebody wearing a Green Bay Packer [jersey]. . . . I just want to make sure that's been documented."
oops!
hey rexy, maybe instead of telling your fans what to do, you should worry about your players being ready.
i like the jets and their fans so i feel bad for you jets fans with the tough loss, but rexy needs to win something before talking the kind of trash he talks.
