Game Thread W8 - Jacksonville V Philadelphia (1 Viewer)

Anyone else lose their appetites before Eagles games?
Not me. Deciding between roast pork or chicken cheeseteak for lunch @ halftime. If you want to talk appetite loss, that's the Flyers right now - and I just won premium tickets for Saturday at a Halloween party. Going as ALF with my girlfriend as a cat was :moneybag: .I think we'll see more passing than people thought in the weather threads - the wind is sometimes non-existent for 2-3 minutes at a time.

TD fred taylor, basically untouched for a 15 yard td run right down the middle.

looks to be another slow start for philly. it always seems to take jim johnson a series or two to start to shut down opposing offenses. hopefully the offense decides to show up before the second half today...

Roughing hte punter but refs said the ball hit the ground so it didn't count. What are the refs talking about. the ball never hit the ground.

ETA: they just explained that the bobble counts as a drop.

im watchin the game too. that rule seems strange to me. any type of mis-snap/bobble between the snapper and the kicker pretty much nulifies the 'roughing the kicker' foul. sucks for the kickers.

The official rule is kind of vague:
6. A member of the receiving team may not run into or rough a kicker who kicks from behind his line unless contact is:

(a) Incidental to and after he had touched ball in flight.

(b) Caused by kicker’s own motions.

© Occurs during a quick kick, or a kick made after a run behind the line, or after kicker recovers a loose ball on the ground. Ball is loose when kicker muffs snap or snap hits ground.
First, the rule says "or after a kicker recovers a loose ball on the ground", but then it says "ball is loose when kicker muffs snap". Makes no sense. :loco:

This is reminding me of the Jags/Colts game from a month ago. Jacksonville is dominating early, but not able to take a big lead.

Can't have turnovers when you're playing the low risk, ball control game the Jags are.
doesn't even matter with this offense the eagles have out on the field. this is not eagles football. where are the screens to westy? mcnabb just looks bad. receivers running bad routes, poor blocking from the o-line. this offense looks worse then the one who played against TB in the first half last week. at least they aren't turning the ball over on every drive this week

I'm afraid this team lost its discipline when Childress left for Minnesota.
i agree 100%. not to mention the eagles are the opposite of most teams, they need the pass to be working to open up their running game and they are just failing miserably in both aspects today. jags defense isn't doing anything fancy, eagles are just playing into their hands.

(Overreacting McNabb owner)

What's going on with the Philly offense...is Jax just able to hold onto the ball for long drives right now...I know McNabb starts slow sometimes.

How bout the wind? How bad is the wind?

A little defensive help appears to be on the way for the recently struggling Philadelphia Eagles.

FOXSports.com has learned that Philly has agreed in principle to a contract with former Giants starting cornerback Will Peterson.

Peterson is scheduled to fly to Philadelphia Monday to take a physical in order to finalize the deal, which is contingent on Peterson's passing the physical.

Injuries and a sour relationship with Giants head coach Tom Coughlin ended Peterson's tenure in New York in the middle of what was supposed to be the third-round draft pick's prime. Peterson played five seasons for the Giants, but two of the final three were hampered by injury. He was finally cut in May of 2006 after injuring his back in Week 3 and missing the remainder of the 2005 season.

During his five seasons in New York, Peterson started 39 games and had five interceptions and 199 tackles.

mcnabb is playing poorly. o-line is playing poorly. bad selection of play calling. running game not working.hope for a 2nd half explosion like last week with TB.
