Game Thread W8 - Minnesota V Carolina (1 Viewer)

I don't think I agree that Carolina is a tough place for a first start. He's won a superbowl already, anyway.A tough place to play is behind the Vikes OL.

S. Davis is the Jerome Bettis of this year so far. TD machine, limited yardage.
He's still getting the majority of the RB touches in this game. It's not like Carolina only gives him the ball at the endzone.

:goodposting: Noted and concur. "Rust" shouldn't be a matter for a guy (BJ) who's been in the league for 14 years.

Except he does nothing with the touches unless he's inside the 10.Carolina is between a rock and a hard place. Getting Foster the ball more would help their offense, but he gets hurt too much and if they lose him on the year, they'd be stuck giving Davis the ball more which would be worse.

Steve Smith is a man among boys. I think I'd like to target him, but his price is rising by the game...

I bet Carolina has more trouble when they practice the 2 minute drill. Delhomme and Smith just sliced through the Vikes "defense" without trouble.

SMITH!!! What a BEAST!!I often refer to him as the Hen that laid the golden egg (for my FF team) :D

I'm no doctor, and NO I didn't stay at a Holiday Express last night ;) But...That injury earlier on Culpepper had all the looks of a Season ending Knee injury. How does 2-14 sound :X :bag: With that "Offensive" line and Brad Johnson trying not to get beheaded they will be lucky to be in any games if Culpepper is out for as long as it looks like he may be.

how long was the field goal that Ksay missed? I think he missed 3 in his last two games before this one.

Another brilliant plan by the coaching staff to have Smoot cover Smith exclusively...
Actually, that's all on Smoot, although the coaching staff should have changed it after the 1st quarter.Smoot pre-Game.. "I can handle Smith no problems by myself." :lmao: :lmao:

He will be Double and tripled team after the half..

Of course it won't matter as Carolina will run, run, run and then run some more up 24-0 and Brad Johnson lead Vikes. :X

Travis Taylor has some ups! He's been the most impressive of the Vikes WRs this season - I'd like to see him get some more looks.

Without perusing the thread (got NFL GameCenter on) C-Pepp is out and possibly seriously injured??
Correct. Sprained right knee and will not return. Nothing else is known and we'll probably remain in the dark until the dreaded MRI.If you didn't see the play it was weird - Culpepper collided into the LB with his shoulder while running low to the ground. The impact spun him around but one would've expected his injury was to his shoulder from the force; turns out his knee got wrenched by the - relatively slow - spin.

Nice job Minny! This means more Steve Smith!!!!!!!!!
Yep. Just beat Smoot for the 40th time today. One handed grab with Smoot all turned around. Brutal - what Smith is doing to Smoot is illegal in most states.

And your plan of covering Smith...?
Gee, I don't know...since he's the only guy on Carolina who ever catches a pass, perhaps double cover him? Maybe adjust your coverage once you realize that Smoot isn't capable of covering Smith 1 on 1? It's not exactly rocket science.

the fans of Minny gotta love that exclusive 45.5% completion ratge for Brad Johnson to Culpepper's 75% :bag: way to go Tice your putrid Offensive line just got your star QB mashed and you for sure fired  Way to go Minny's OL! :D the best in the bizz :D if i was Culpepper i'd refuse to ever take another snap behind that fat heap of sludge they call protection. :(

Wow, I didn't know it was that easy! Have you thought about applying for defensive coordinator for any of the teams that S.Smith has torched this year?

It wasn't the O line that got Culpepper hurt....he took off on a scramble. Then again I wonder why he had to take off on a scramble.

Fred Smoot penalty means that a Vikes sack and fumble recovery are nullified. One of the worst games I've ever seen a DB have.

Davis 17 for 40

Foster 9 for 35

How many times does this have to happen before they make the switch?
Like I mentioned before, they need to have Foster available in the game for the offense. However, they can't use him much more than that because his bones are made of tissue paper.
Davis, 2 tough short yardage TDs in the red zone. Funny how that gets omitted
No one is saying they can't use Davis at the goalline. If Foster were durable and wasn't fumble prone, he'd be a fulltime back. Foster is much more successful running and catching the ball, but he can only do it for limited amounts of time. Ineffective Davis + effective Foster for periods of time is more desirable for the Cats than ineffective davis full time.To use an analogy, Foster is a middle reliever. He can't go the distance like a true starter, but he's effective as a middle reliever.

Davis is a closer. He can only be used in certain situations, but he's good in those situations.

Carolina needs a starting pitcher.
