This thread will be bumped near kickoff and pinned once underway

Mike Tomlin drew a lot of criticism last week by not running enough against a weak run defense. The Steelers face a similar situation this week and I expect they have learned their lesson. It should be a big day for FWP and Davenport unless the Steelers get down early and are forced to throw the ball.

The Bengals have not been playing good football and are 4 point underdogs at home. However after seeing the success Cutler had against the Steelers defense last week you can only imagine what Palmer and Chad/TJ can do. DE Aaron Smith will miss the game due to a sprained knee -- a big blow to the Steelers defense. Also safety Ryan Clark is not expected to play and rookie William Gay will probably get his first start.

Obviously this a big game for both teams. A win for the Steelers keeps them ahead of the division, a loss will drop them into a tie with the Ravens. For the Bengals this is pretty much a must-win. If they drop to 2-5 they're probably done.

It should be interesting...

I expect the Bengals to win, it would put them right back into the AFCN picture.

Where as a loss would really put the clamps on them.

AFC North

Pittsburgh Steelers 4 2 0 .667

Baltimore Ravens 4 3 0 .571

Cleveland Browns 3 3 0 .500

Cincinnati Bengals 2 4 0 .333

Hard to imagine a team with this much attention and spotlight status around the NFL, being "out" so early.

I hear ya but the Bengals defense is really, really bad. The Steelers should be able to run and keep the ball away from the Bengals offense. The key for the Bengals is to get up early and force the Steelers to throw.

Why is William Gay going to get his first start?

He's not. He'll be the nickel back with McFadden out. Anthony Smith is starting for Ryan Clark.

OK that makes much more sense. I have Gay in a league and would start him if he was starting.

Yep -- Bengals offense looks pretty sharp, Steelers D not playing aggressively to this point. 3-0 CIN.

Nice audible by Roeth there -- up top to Holmes and down to the CIN 10. They'll review the catch, though.

Palmer looking good -- picked up the blitz there and completed a quick throw for the first down. CIN in the red zone.

Wow -- nice wrap-around delay there to Parker. 32 yards and the Steelers are back across the 50.

Steelers down to the 10 with a minute to go in the half.
