Game Thread W8 - San Francisco V Indianapolis (1 Viewer)

Results won't show it, but Alex Smith looks very poised out there. I think he'll make a solid fantasy backup the rest of the year.

His INT was a tip off Crabtree's hands, would have been a tough catch [one that could have been made], but not a bad throw by at all by Smith.

Agree. What's happening to INDY's so called vaunted pass D?

I've been impressed with Smith here. I'm giving him credit where it's due to him. He's got some nice weapons. Also showing very good arm strength. Wondering why Hill was starting Week 1 (physical tools between the two really should have been highlighted in practices). As I type, great 2 minute drive led by Smith, resulting in Vernon Davis TD.

Smith has looked very good today.SF is getting pressure and taking away the underneath routes for Manning. Indy needs to either max protect, or change up to confuse. As I post this Manning hits Collie underneath quickly.

Looked amazing on that 2 minute drill there. Used a lot of different weapons and didn't make any dumb decisions.

It was pretty high-off his fingertips.

SF getting good pressure on Manning. He's been sacked more times today (3) than he had total all this season (2).

Pretty sure Gore was in the last possession.

Baskett with another drop. Kendra coulda made those freaking catches.

I never thought I'd say this, but it's a good thing the Colts brought in Addai to throw a deep ball. They don't seem to have anyone else that can throw the ball downfield accurately today.

I think Manning's the best QB ever, but he kind of stinks today.

You need to have someone open and a safety not sitting the route to throw it. Also, SF has done a good job getting pressure on Manning. This has been a very good game with good coaching going on.

The Niners have done a great job getting pressure and an admirable job in coverage, but Peyton's missed an way more throws than usual. That said, no matter what the Niners do with this possession, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the last time they touch the ball today.

Niners came up short, but you had to like what you saw from Alex Smith & Crabtree today. They definitely made the right decision switching from Hill.

Really was NOT impressed with A. Smith...he can definitely make the throws when he gets rid of it on rhythm, but if that first read is covered he panics, eyes the rush, and looks to run. He did that WAY too many times including a 3rd and 18 play where the Indy defense was thrilled to see him run from the pocket. No, I wasn't impressed at all.

Didn't see him panic once today. His poise was the single best thing I saw today. Very encouraging for the Niners passing game.
