How hard is it to understand that he is saying that there are people with real problems and some of these whiny people need to grow a sack and understand that their little problems are not nearly as bad as they think and they should man up.
Yeah...that's what he said.
I'm not in favor of women growing sacks and manning up.
What woman are you guys referring to? Not his mom, who survived the concentration camp and loves life? He is telling the crybaby drug addicts and others who think that their life is bad to #### or get off the pot. People today have skin so thin it is translucent. No one seems able to brush themselves off and recover anymore.

Victim mentality. Oh woe is me.
Pretty sure he's talking about women in general.

Like I've said many times before, who gives a #### what celebrities say? They don't make decisions, my opinion probably means more.

Mere days after telling immigrants to "learn ####### English" during a HuffPost Live appearance, Kiss bassist Gene Simmons is in headlines yet again for uttering deeply offensive comments about drug addiction and depression during an interview with SongFacts.com.

During the interview, dated July 31, Simmons said he doesn't "get along with anybody who's a drug addict and has a dark cloud over their head and sees themselves as a victim."

He went on to say:

Drug addicts and alcoholics are always, "The world is a harsh place." My mother was in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany. I don't want to hear #### all about "the world as a harsh place." She gets up every day, smells the roses and loves life. And for a putz, 20-year-old kid to say, "I'm depressed, I live in Seattle." #### you, then kill yourself.
I never understand, because I always call them on their bluff. I'm the guy who says "Jump!" when there's a guy on top of a building who says, "That's it, I can't take it anymore, I'm going to jump." Are you kidding? Why are you announcing it? Shut the #### up, have some dignity and jump! You've got the crowd.
That sounds exactly like my wife.

Gene Apologizes

http://news.yahoo.com/gene-simmons-apologizes-over-depression-comments-wrong-214700108.html

I want to make this statement about my views on depression for the record and to clarify my prior remarks.

To the extent my comments reported by the media speak of depression, I was wrong and in the spur of the moment made remarks that in hindsight were made without regard for those who truly suffer the struggles of depression. I sincerely apologize to those who were offended by my comments. I recognize that depression is very serious and very sad when it happens to anyone, especially loved ones. I deeply support and am empathetic to anyone suffering from any disease, especially depression.

I have never sugarcoated my feelings regarding drug use and alcoholics. Somewhere along the line, my intention of speaking in very directly and perhaps politically incorrectly about drug use and alcoholics has been misconstrued as vile commentary on depression. Unkind statements about depression was certainly never my intention. Fully, you will know that and I do not intend to defend myself here and now, by listing the myriad charities and self-help organizations I am involved with. Rather, I simply want to be clear that my heart goes out to anyone suffering from depression and I deeply regret any offhand remarks in the heat of an interview that might have suggested otherwise.

that was taken out of content.

I am sure what he said was "buy a KISS coffin, then kill yourself."

nothing that ####### won't do for publicity and :moneybag:

In this new Twitter world of one hundred forty characters and auto correct, it's amazing how much one word here or there can change the whole meaning of a story like this. Like if he told depressed people to #### themselves, would people be this upset? Or if it were Richard Simmons instead of gene Simmons? Think about that next time you tweet.

I understand the context of what he's saying, but it's all simplistic and about as ignorant as it gets.
So basically just another dumb celebrity?
People are still going to buy KISS stuff, he can say whatever he wants.
True, but the KISS noose does seem a bit over the top.

I think his point was that many people today are emotional wimps and get upset over "first world problems" and fail to appreciate the era in which we live and the things we have and can do. It kind got misconstrued and sounded like he was disparaging those who suffer from the horrible, debilitating and sometimes fatal mental illness of depression. So, everybody, get your panties out of a bunch before running to your keyboard to try to sound all holier-than-thou...
