Get it On! Rookie Draft Discussion Thread (1 Viewer)

Think about this- they probably did get the guy they really wanted anyway knowing that Jax would take Leftwich and even if Carolina drafted Williams, they would still end up with Gross, who Tice was high on. How much $$$ did the Vikes save themselves by drafting 9th rather than 7th?
***SPIN ALERT***They lost two positions that could have been traded. Sure they may have saved some $$ but they lost some valuable draft currency. They blew it plain and simple.

Not that it means anything, but Rick Gosselin rated him as the 3rd best safety. link
Thanks for the link.I would have preferred to hear why he is 3rd. (and why he ranked Boller higher than Leftwich)I don't see a huge difference in Kiel and Van Buren picks I think both were names that weren't huge, and I feel went too high.

And Simms continues to tumble downward.... this is truly amazing stuff.Suggs, Onterrio, Fargas still on the board.Un-B-Lievable.
I remember arguments over should Onterrio or Simms go in round 1. Now they might not even go on Day 1. Wierd, yo.

i think philly should jump all over a running back. which one i dont know, but i bet they did not think they would be able to get one here. they should go RB in my mind!!!

Sounds like they had their card on the table but the Ravens were too slow. Now why you don't have TWO cards for either situation is another question. But these are football minds here, after all.

This pick actually makes a lot of sense to me. Eddie is getting old and Chris Brown is a very similar back.

philly, oakland, and tampa could all take RB's here and in everyone's mind they would be a steal here. posible starters too given a year or even this year given injury. wow.

after the larry johson pick, this draft has taken a nose dive. watching teams reach for unknown DB's and LB's in the 2nd round round just isn't exciting
From a fantasy standpoint, this draft stinks. So far, very late in the third round, only five RBs have been taken. One is a FB with minimal fantasy value, one won't play this year and must battle a top ten RB for a starting job next year, and the other two were drafted by teams with top ten RBs. The consensus #1 RB out of college (besides McGahee who won't play this year) gets drafted by the team with the #1 RB last year. And the fifth one (just selected Chris Brown), I know very little about, but he probably will be a top five selection by dynasty drafters this year.

how is he similar? he dosen't have any hands at all. oh, thats right, he does run upright, and take alot of punishment.

C'mon NFL! Draft these RBs before Martz is up for two picks in a row tomorrow at 106 & 107. He's gonna take O. Smith if he is there. Please take him first!!

His size and footwork reminded me a lot of Eddie. I know Brown is not the same receiving threat, but as a runner he immediately reminded me of Eddie.

All right. Somebody start a poll. What's the most commonly spoken line in the draft rooms today?1) Hey, somebody roll another blunt.2) Pass me some of that fatty, bro.Add as you see fit.
Just thought of another one.3) Boy. I sure hope nobody takes OUR urine samples. Hee-hee-hee.

What kind of value does Garner have in dynasty leagues? In redraft leagues?
Fargas definitely has the potential to take over for Garner when he's done, but I don't think Garner's numbers will take that much of a hit this season. On the other hand, I think that Fargas just landed in the perfect situation for a player with his skills, and makes a great pickup in a dynasty league.

Crowell for the Bills is a baaad pick. :wall: He's too short and slow to play outside and he'd be the #3 ILB behind Fletch and Brandon Short....odd, very odd.
Bills don't have Brandon Short, but do have Brandon Spoon coming back off a serious injury...Crowell could backup Spikes at weakside backer and Fletcher and Spoon at MLB, and he also should be a force on special teams.

Riddle me this... why if a QB (Boller) has amazing workouts but does **** on the field so much more valuable than a guy like Fargas who has a great workout and at an easier position stands less of a chance of being a bust? :wall:

From what I see so far in this draft, I have no way knowing whom I'm going to get with the 1.10 pick in our free agent/rookie draft starting Saturday next week. So many RB's are going to teams where they will battle for the #2 RB spot.Perhaps I'll have to seek a trade.....

OOPS thank's AaronR that is who I meant, SPOOOON, but still Crowell is too slow for my liking to play outside and even still, he's going to back-up an All-Pro. Not a good pick but then Donahoe/Modrak know their stuff. As for McGahee, it should be very interesting on how the contract talks go here. Donahoe is a tough cookie.

Because Fargas cannot throw a football through the goalposts from his knee at the 50 yard line.

I unfortunately missed some of the draft coverage, but after reading this I feel like I watched every minute of it. Outstanding coverage.

hopefully one of them is going to Detroit @ 4.02
The Lions should seriously consider Onterrio Smith tomorrow - good season before getting banged up - outstanding player healthy and I don't think we've seen the best out of him yet (remember he took over for Morris the year prior late and then was banged up this year).

WR David Kircus is a big time sleeper! He isn't big or fast but he had a great Hula bowl where he was wide open and caught everything in site. He reminds me of another slow, small white kid by the name of Steve Largent who had a pretty decent NFL career.Detroit is having a great draft! Here comes the Lions! :wall:

I wasn't going to say anything being a Lions fan, but I was thinking that they would take Kircus at some point. I like the kid and think he has some potential down the road. Two Michigan WRs in the draft! :o
