Giants, Eagles (1 Viewer)

The Eagles will not be able to stop Tiki and they will lose just like they have lost to the Giants in the playoffs the last couple times we met. :bag:

Happy New Years everyone, But bet big on the GMEN if you want some more money

Eli is pathetic, tiki had a good game aginst a team who could care less. Giants get their ### beat at the link and then tiki and shockey go off on coughlin and then coughlin gets fired. Mark it down.

I completely disagree with you. Where I am not a Philly fan, I don't buy that a Very mediocre Giants team, (who looked good against 5-11 WSH...congratulations... :bag: ) will overpower the eagles, who are 4-0 since Garcia took over. This is probably the game of the week in the NFC next week, and If I were betting with you sir, Id bet against the GMEN. Its cool to have an opinion, but you need to support it better to consider it having any credibility.

Because we all know there is nothing better than having credibility in the Shark Pool. ( )

The GMEN almost let it slip by against the terrible Redskins even WITH a Tiki monster game of over 250 yds all purpose. The Eagles will handle them.

What the announcers have been saying is quite true. Eli is not good at all under pressure. Reid will send the kitchen sink in to blitz if he could. Eli's been improving but he still stinks at this. He'd better get better quick if they're going to win.

For me, it ruins all the fun of matchups and gameplanning and everything when a QB just stinks.

Cowboy fan here.

still reading? good. Here are the facts:

my cowboys suck right now.

so do the giants.

eagles are hot. they'll get past the second round....maybe.

that hurt

I'm glad they'll be around another week, but it's not going to be pretty.

Eagles 29 - 13. (Of course, it'll be 17-13 until the 4th and then all hell breaks loose...)

Huge Giant homer, and I'd be surprised if they win this weekend. Eli looks lost out there right now, and the Giants D is a sieve. They're going to have to play a very good all around game to have a shot, and I don't know if that's possible right now.

Cowboys fan here I like the Giants to win. For some reason I keep thinking the Giants and Cowboys are going to rebound from their slumps.

Tiki and Plaxico have given the Eagles fits in the past, though Tiki has been stopped well by them this year. However, the Giant defense is a sieve, and 3/4 of the Eagles starting unit essentially had a bye during the ATL game, knowing Dallas lost to Detroit. Shockey may not play. The Giants could win, but I just don't see it, not with that type of defensive performance against the Skins...the Eagles will move the ball and that will get the crowd into it. Giants need to be at least +2 or +3 in turnover margin.

The Cowboys defense couldn't stop the worst team in football at home. What makes you think they will stop Hasselback, Alexander, Branch, and Darrell Jackson on the road, in one of the loudest stadiums?

Is Jackson a definite go? Can the Seahawks block DeMarcus Ware?

Seemed to me they looked past Detroit. I'm sure BP warned them over and over but they still did. They're a very good but very very young D. This past game was not the norm at all.

Even though the Giants took care of Washington, they could easily have been blown out. The Redskins were marching the length of the field on the opening drive and were clearly going to score. A Betts fumble and huge return gave the Giants a 3-0 lead instead. Had they gone into a quick 7-0 hole, they may have mailed it in, given the fragile pyche of this team.

Ok, a case for the Giants winning? Here goes:

1. Plaxico. I hate the guy, but he could come up big on a few deep errant ducks by Eli. Their game plan should include several deep attempts, just looking for a flag or a break on a jump ball.

2. Tiki. Maybe he starts off breaking a couple of tackles and it gets the team fired up.

3. Pass rush. Needs to play over their heads.

4. McQuarters has a bad cold and they pick up a high schooler to play corner instead.

4. (my favorite) Bad weather. Figure that bad weather would effect Garcia more, since he is good. Eli is already not playing well, so the drop off would be minimal ;)

Anyone familiar with NFC East football, knows that this is anyone's game. I'm pretty sure that the thread-starter's assurtion that the "Giants win easily" is out of the question, however.

Anyone who actually watched the two Giants-Eagles games this year, knows that Philly absolutely manhandled them for the three quarters in the first game and all four quarters of the second game.

The Giants sudden re-emurgance of their running game is cause for some concern for Philly fans, as this was their achilles heel during their bad performances this year.

I like Philly in a close one.

Eagles 23-14.

The word "easily" should not appear in the same sentence as "Giants", unless immediately followed by "meltdown".

The only way I see the Giants winning is if the backup QB effect kicks in for the Eagles. You know, the "new QB comes in to start for a team and they get an immediate boost, but then the rest of the league catches up to the QB" effect. Oh, and the Giants game plan well enough to make this happen to Garcia. No idea if the coaching is there for the Giants to make this happen though.

Eagles, Giants, Cowboys, frankly they don't scare anyone any more than would the Packers, Rams, or Falcons. Very mediocre teams. Maybe Philly, by way of a little momentum, can be distinguished as a better prospect than the other two mediocre teams that are clearly in disarray. I have seen far more accomplished teams than these miss the playoffs in the past.

This might be true for a QB who is actually new, like Romo. But everybody knows all about Garcia. You think the Giants got caught napping the first time because they didn't watch the 7 years of NFL tape on Garcia?

Actually, Garcia's Iggles lost to the Colts. So not 4-0.That being said, Theyll beat the gi'nts.

To the Eagles' account add one more thing: experience. They've been to the playoffs before . . . and won. They've got to be the most confident team in the NFC heading into the playoffs, and that includes the Bears at this point.

The only reason that the Giants are in the playoffs is because Washington had to have one of the worst defensive game plans I have ever seen. The Giants have one thing working right now - Tiki Barber and the Redskins played a 2-deep against him. They basically sat back and let Barber run to their safeties. Shockey is beat-up, Burress is very over-rated and Eli looks scared to death anytime he feels pressure. Carter and Tyree are at best below average receivers. The Giants secondary is one of the worst secondaries in football. Take Tiki away and they have very little - so what did Washington do? Let allowed him to run wild. They gave the game to the Giants and the Giants still barely won it.Sorry - I don't see this being a Giants victory.Willie

I watched the Redskin/Giant game and I saw the same thing. Nobody tried to tackle Tiki until he was 5 yards downfield. Nobody pressured Eeyore Manning. The Redskin defense was horrible. The Eagles defense is not.

Tiki in 2 games vs Phi:

rushing: 3.2ypc 40 carries 1TD

recieving: 12 rec 86yds 0TD

@ Phi he has 21 carries 51yds 0TDs

Giants fan here who has expected (and mostly received) the worst over the past couple months.

That said, this is by far the best matchup for the Giants. While Philly is hot, I think that Dallas is simply a better team with a much better defense and better coaching. I would much prefer to take my chances against an overacheiving Eagles team.

I think the Giants will actually win this, and assuming they then lose the next week I hope Coughlin still gets the door.

Just a weird feeling about this year... like 8-8, if it will ever make a Super Bowl, could happen this year.

But, if Eli continues his dismal play and doesnt strike a little lightning, it will be ugly this week, and next year.

The Eagles are going to absolutely kill the Giants in this game. Damn, I wish Dallas would have won the NFC East -- the Giants are probably the only team in the NFC they'll have a chance against in the playoffs.

I find it amusing that some FF'ers are thinking that Tiki will run all over Phil when he has already signed with ESPN for his next job. Why would he even care about the game when he has the $$ coming in from his new gig!

Granted Philly Def started lame and has moments of inepitude, but these last few weeks, they appear to be ready to do all they can to make it to the big dance!

I expect it to be a good close game with the difference being whoever makes the fewest mistakes.

With Tikis huge lack of focus on anything but himself (and certainly NOT on playing the games at hand until this past week) this year, it wouldnt surprise me if he doesnt have a solid game and I think it is perfectly legit to question his heart at this point.

What better way to build up his name and maybe increase demand than with a big playoff performance?

I don't really buy into this "head is elsewhere" stuff. That's what we were reading leading up to the Washington game and that turned out pretty good.

His plans to retire make no negative difference on his, or his teams, performance, IMO.

Seriously - much better defense and better coaching? I don't see it. The Cowboys defense has been pretty average at best the last month. The Eagles are stepping up and playing better. As for coaching, Parcells couldn't get his team motivated against the Eagles or Lions at home. 'Nuff said.

The Eagles last 3 games:

Dec 17 @N.Y. Giants Won 36-22

Dec 25 @Dallas Won 23-7

Dec 31 Atlanta Won 24-17

They dominated both NFC East games and beat Atlanta with their 2nd stringers. They're hot right now and the NFC is a MESS. If Eli gets even a LITTLE pressure he craps the bed and Dawkins has been on a rampage lately. Let's not forget, Tiki ran all over us twice now in two games we essentially dominated - he's a non-factor and can't get in the end zone.

I would have never thought it if you had asked me 6 weeks ago, but now:

THE EAGLES WILL BE THE NFC CHAMPIONS! GO BIRDS!!!

 :lmao:

Perhaps I underestimate the Eagles D, but I am, for whatever reason, more worried about a Parcells coached D.Also, I don't care much for Reid. So yeah, I have to give a good nod there to Parcells.

Yeah, I thought about this as well, but still decided to post because of the different team/situation. While slightly different, Huard is also a vet and he experienced the same thing (I think). Granted, Garcia is slightly different in that he is an ex-probowler and Huard isn't. Regardless, I think the new-QB effect may not be so much about the QB, but having a new QB-led team. Just a thought with nothing to back it up

Good postings. Greg Williams should be fired based on that game (and others).
