Gibbs Confirms Decreased Workload for Portis? (1 Viewer)

Here is the link for an article in the Washington Post today:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...hpid=sec-sports

Near the end of the article Gibbs indicates that Portis is the starter, but the workload will be more balanced between Portis and Betts than in the past.
It was obvious from the start Betts didn't resign to get 3-4 carries a game. There were promises made, and it seems RBBC is what was said. Portis will start, and Betts will get 8-15 carries a game.

I wonder if every RB will get decreased work this year. Sure seems that way. I can't wait until the "player X lost 10 pounds and is in the best shape of their life" articles soon to come.

We hear this talk a lot -- for a lot of teams -- this time of year.

The truth is, if you get one back going well, every team will feed him the ball as much as they can. The only exceptions would be true running-backs-by-committee like McAllister and Bush.

I hope it's true, but I'll also say that when Gibbs has a healthy RB who is clearly superior to others on the roster, he doesn't have a history of spreading the carries around. We'll see.

Portis is the smallest feature RB he's ever had too, so maybe he'll adapt his approach like he's saying.

Sean Salisbury said on NFL Live that a source close to Ricky Williams said that Ricky is in the best shape of his life.IT HAS BEGUN!!! :jawdrop: Plus Ricky is going to cause a decrease in Ronnie Brown's workload. IT'S A DOUBLE WHAMMY!
