I've heard so many Favre haters who started hating Favre because the media was gushing about how good he was. I loved having Favre as our QB and I'm loving having Rodgers as our QB...we've been very fortunate.

Today, however, I heard the first comments by the media that will eventually leave everyone hating Rodgers.

Here's what they said: He has the "poise or calmness" of Montana, the arm strength of Marino, the athleticism of Elway, the "smarts" of P. Manning and something that I can't remember, but it was comparing him to Brady. So, he is Montana, Marino, Elway, Manning, and Brady all wrapped up in one guy! :hophead:

funny you should post this now. i am a long-time steelers fan who has always kind of liked the Packers, mostly because of their history and culture. i even felt moderately OK that, should the steelers lose the super bowl, at least it was the Packers who did the deed. but just this morning it dawned on me that i really do not like the Packers anymore. the video-game passing is so far out of the spirit of the old school Pack that i feel like it's a totally different franchise. their fans are still cool but i don't think i will root for the Packers anymore and i may downright end up actively disliking them if, as you claim, the media contunually lick Rodgers' bootstraps.

The video game passing is the new NFL. The only teams that aren't are the ones who can't. Heading into this week there were 5-6 QBs that were on pace to shatter Marino's yardage record.

The video game passing isn't just the Packers of today. It is the NFL. Are the Packers still supposed to run the sweep when the rest of the league are allowed to pass?

wat

Edit to add: Unless he turns into a dooshnoggin who cheats on his wife, abuses pills, sends penis picks to hot chicks, etc.....I don't think people will dislike him like they dislike Farve.

Favre was dislike by some, myself included, even before his late career shenanigans. Despite all the praise heaped on him, he was always prone to the boneheaded turnovers in the biggest moments of the biggest games. And no one ever mentions his interception record along with his TD and yards record. Rodgers is more careful with the football.

One could easily say the same of your Steelers, bud.
funny, but Yahoo shows that Pittsburgh ran and threw for exactly the same net yards today (185, 185) while the Pack's were out of whack by a factor of 3 (303 passing and 96 rushing).i think i really do dislike Aaron Rodgers already. the whole championship belt thing, the silly gunslinger celebration. what would Vince say?

i like Rodgers - he was humbled at the draft in 2005, he worked his tail off on the scout team for several years and made himself a great QB . . .

now we are finding ways to criticize him . . . awesome . . .

Vince would say, "Atta boy. Way to bring my trophy home."

funny, but Yahoo shows that going into this game Pittsburgh:Passed for 1424 yardsandRan for 549 yards. What would Franco Harris say?

I like him well enough but on an interview today, he had a weird answer to a question. The question I think was "What is not one reason the packers will lose?" or something convoluted like that. Rodgers answered "Me. I'm playing good football" or something along those lines. Not the humble, team first response I expected. Maybe I misunderstood but it left a bad impression of the guy.

"wow, we really suck at running"

This is what the media does. They help build up players then they help bring them down.

And all the stuff about history above, this is not your fathers nfl anymore. Its wide open pinball scoring. . .

Meh... I didn't get that vibe at all. He was talking about protecting the football and not having turnovers. It's not like he was talking about how he leads the NFL in touchdowns right now. Dude has the fewest INTs of any QB with more than 8 TDs.

Let's see if I can recap the reasons we hate Rodgers:

1. Media fawning

2. TD celebration

3. NFL became a passing league in the 80's

I have never had Rodgers on my fantasy team but did have Favre for many years. I remember when he was kept waiting on draft day. I felt bad for the guy. I pulled for him ever since even though I am a fan of Favre. Rodgers seems to be a great teammate and all around good guy. I think he is a good role model and is good for the NFL. We need more players like Rodgers who have a passion for the game and carries himself off the field with quiet dignity. He may be outspoken on the field but I have not seen him carry that bravado off of it. He plays the game very hard and seems to respect his peers. I wish he was on my FF and hometown teams.

The cancer lady video, the title belt celebration (before he ever won the title)... nothing sticks to this guy as negative. America loves him.. he is the Teflon Don. And he knows what NOT to do, after hanging around Favre for a few years. Perfect storm. He got to follow the guy everyone loved to hate...

Does Rogers plan to hold the Packers hostage at the end of his career about his career and if he is going to retire or play?

Well Manning's moving on soon, and Brady believe it or not is getting up there. The media has to lay the foundation for the next generation of ratings drivers. If it wasn't him it would be someone else and it is both a blessing and a curse.

He will be out of the league in less than a decade.
:goodposting: He seems young but he's already turning 28 in December.
Which is younger than P. Manning/Brady/Brees/Rivers/Romo/Vick/Rivers/E. Manning/Roethlisberger/Schaub/Cutler; or basically anyone that could be argued to be a top 15 quarterback in this league outside Ryan/Stafford/Freeman.
My point is that in 15 years he'll already have been in the HOF for several years - why are people doing to hate him?

One of the dumbest threads I've seen in the Shark Pool. Rodgers has handled the transition from Favre to him flawlessly and is the best QB in the NFL currently as he defends his Super Bowl championship.

The thread is asinine, childish, and lockable.

I hate him because the Packers faithful are now convinced they are going to win 5 or 6 straight SBs, going undefeated each season in the process and that he is already the greatest QB ever.

Full disclosure, I'm a Viking fan. :bag:

But the average person will hate him becuase he will be the victim of the same hype machine that has made people hate Favre, Brady, Montana, etc. At some point, unless they're talking about one of your teams players, you just get damn sick and tired of hearing about how great any one single player is, especially when that player's teams are really successful. It doesn't matter how great a player or person they are. That crap just gets old.

The only thing I hate WRT to Rodgers is that I don't own him on either of my fantasy teams. Dude's a fantastic ball hog; loves getting his numbers. But he's so good, it doesn't even bother me from a real NFL perspective

Which Packer faithful are convinced of this?

Candidate for one of the dumbest posts I've read in a long time.
