Given Brady injury, would you trade Moss?....and if so... (1 Viewer)

As a Moss owner, I am concerned with the injury to Brady. Having said that, I am not actively pursuing a trade nor am I going to react with emotion over logic because of the injury.

BUT....one has to wonder if you could move Moss (straight up) or in a package to land another top WR and if so, would anybody consider doing that?

I remember what happened in Oak when he had no QB. I wouldn't give up a Fitz/Wayne/Owens type for him now that he has a horrendous QB.

I am kinda wondering the same thing. I have Moss in my auction keeper league and he is taking up a good bit of my salary cap. I am a little thin at RB with Lewis as my RB 2.(hamstring scares me a bit) I was thinking of trading Moss and Lewis for an slight upgrade at RB and a slight downgrade at WR. I really don't know how Moss(and the patriots will adjust). Moss' production will definately take a hitl, how big...I don't know.

YES, that is the question! I don't think so! :lmao: I'd try to package him in a balanced deal for a WR2 and upgrade another position, so it isn't so obvious... I did that with Ocho.

But if you had Moss and could move him, what would you expect to get in return? Obviously, the injury to Brady hurts his value. NE however is a good team (with an emphasis on team). They will find a way to game plan for Cassel and getting Moss the ball will surely be a priority. He will still get his.

I agree that nobody is going to give a top notch WR for Moss.I'm not sure the Oakland analogy is accurate though. Was it the QB or the OC? It's not like Culpepper was any good.

despite having a 100 yard 1 TD day, now is probably the worst time to try and deal Moss and the Brady news is fresh and people are likely down on the Pats O in general now. if you can wait it out and Moss puts together another good game, then his value might be restored. I think as long as he's winning, he will compete hard and not dog it like in Oakland when he wanted off the team. Moss is good enough to succeed with lesser QBs.

Moss's value is toast. Sorry guy.

I agree with you. However, it only takes one guy in a league to disagree and make a trade. I bet he is still valued highly by at least one person in most leagues.

This really is devastating to Moss's value. I'm sorry, it just is.

Before the injury, people were thinking 90-1500-15...something along those lines.

after the injury w/cassell...I think we are looking at something more along the lines of 72-1100-9

This is a big, big difference.

I have to agree that his perceived value is pretty low. I don't own him and I wouldn't give up a lot for him. I was thinking maybe Cotchery...but to be honest I'm not positive I'd do that. Maybe I'm not wise enough to buy low, but that should give you an idea of how little I regard the guy without Brady. I'd need to see more, which would affect his value, obviously. Not interested in taking that risk.

If you want to trade Moss I would wait until after he lights up the Jets, Dolphins, and Niners. It doesn't get any sweeter than that, even without Tom Terrific.

You have to expect Moss's numbers to come down...but Moss is still the #1 target and a sick sick player. He won't repeat his 23 TD's...but I'd still expect 12+ due to his skills. I think Gaffney and to a lesser extent Welker's values just took a bigger hit than Randy's did.

In Oak it was not that Moss had no QB - he had no QB, no Line, little running game, NO coaching... Moss did give up on the team, but the team gave up on itself long before. You can not compare the two situations.

If I didn't already own him I'd be trying to get him from a panicky owner. He'll be Cassel's security blanket and will be targeted a ####load.

I think that Cassell will look to Moss often as he is not the most experienced QB around. He'll need a safety valve. Moss is good enough for Cassell to throw the ball up and Moss will come down with it. I think Moss will end with top 5 numbers. He won't have the ridiculous numbers he had last year but he would not have gotten them anyway. 1400 and 13 tds are what I'm expecting. I would also upgrade Morris and Thomas a bit and downgrade all other pats receivers. I'm not looking to trade moss away at this point.

Agreed. I think that Welker's value is actually the one that should fall through the floor. His stats depended so much on Brady's accuracy, timing and the fact that Brady and Welker both always saw the same thing in the defenses. Moss has sick talent that won't just disappear. His numbers should take a hit, but he's still a top 5 WR IMO.

I am taking a different approach. I am going after Moss in two leagues right now. The owners are already in panic mode.

Moss was not going to repeat last year anyway, but there is no reason he will not score 13-14 TDs and that will put him at or near the top.
