I live in Springfield, MO and this morning's news is dominated by a terrible story.

A 10 yr old girl was abducted yesterday late afternoon and amber alerts were posted everywhere. They knew what type of vehicle it was and had a description of the man and even had his license plate to within one character. It was posted all evening on the bottom of the screen during the Olympics coverage last night.

Come to find out this morning, they found the guy (in his driveway in the same vehicle) in the evening and found the girl dead later that night. He only had her for about 3 hours. Even crazier is this guy is a paraprofessional teacher (had been for 16 years) at one of the local Middle Schools and a 7th & 8th grade football coach. I ref football and I remember this guy. He looked like a burned out hippy with long grey hair always in a ponytail and usually unshaven.

The whole town is in shock. What the heck is wrong with people? Did the guy just decide he did want to live anymore and decided to take a little girl with him? How can a person who has been around kids for that long, suddenly just snap like that? This is one of the worst stories we've had around here in a while.

My phone got an amber alert last night from this. What a tragic story! Shes a month older then my youngest daughter. Thats why i never let them play outside in the front yard unless their mother or i was out there. Sad state but thats the world we live in.

My wife and I are in the process of buying a house via short sale.

I just got an email from our Realtor's office that the Realtor who is handling our stuff will be unavailable for a while because this girl was her niece.
