Going to Dodger game next week, need advice (1 Viewer)

Couldn't find an *** OFFICIAL *** Dodger thread. I'm in Cali for a few days next week and gonna check out a game. I'm renting a car during my time there so looking for suggestions on whether that's the best bet to get in and out of the stadium. I'm in north NJ and always in NYC so I'm used to gridlock traffic but I hear this might be another animal entirely. Is there a better way to get there? Staying in West Hollywood if that helps.

Anything real cool in/around the stadium that's a must to check out?

Went to Opening Day there when they unveiled the renovations. I was with a group of guys and none of us were going to be in a condition to drive, and we were staying pretty far away in Manhattan beach. We cabbed it there and had a car service back. While it wasn't too cheap, it was maybe 25 a head each way so not too bad either, especially since we stopped on the way home to pick up a couple of cases. Traffic was pretty bad getting in and out, in fact we walked the last mile or two rather than sit in the cabs.

The stadium itself is pretty amazing. Just the setting and the view. We had top of the upper deck seats and they were pretty great. The food is meh as is the beer selection up there, but the atmosphere was fantastic. We snuck down to the lower levels later in the game, and while they seemed to have better food, the concourses were pretty tight. Meanwhile the upper deck has open air and just great views. Also, its pretty damn cool to enter into a stadium on the top deck and see everything below you.

And I'd say you should get a Dodger Dog, just 'cause.

Yeah seems a Dodger dog is a thing ya gotta do even though it seems like it's just a hot dog. Ticket-wise everything I'm reading says to go to the Loge, so I'll probably buy those but walk around a lot to check out the different vantage points. I'm going on Tuesday night, not sure if that'll make a big difference in terms of traffic.

I think I have a chance at Kershaw...Yahoo and ESPN both showing Kershaw pitching Tuesday. SportingNews showing Hernandez. Dodgers.com showing TBD...any homers with any insight there? Seems like it's Hernandez's turn to pitch, so not sure what the discrepancy is all about.

Dodger Dog is garbage. Don't waste your money.

Went about 6 years ago, during the 50th anniversary of the move. Its a nice enough place. Like Dpark said, great setting. For the old parks we're left with,(Wrigley, Fenway, Chavez) it's a distant third IMO.

Best memories of that ballpark were my son getting to run the bases after the game and, oddly enough, buying peanuts from Roger Owens.

Didn't seem like there was anything to do around the ballpark. Whole place is surrounded by pavement for parking.

The stadium is very impressive. The scale is more immense that any other baseball park I've been in. The views are beautiful as the sun sets and it's cool to be in a park with such history.

But man, that parking lot leaves a lot to be desired. Getting in is a pain and getting out is worse, especially after a night game. If I was by myself, I'd consider catching the shuttle from Union Station. There are some places near Union Station (Phillipe the Original, Little Tokyo, Chinatown, Olivera Street) but nothing around the ballpark except for what seems like miles of terraced parking lot.

Imagine forgetting where you parked and leaving the stadium from the wrong gate. Once we realized it, the stadium was already in lockdown. Had to walk the majority of the perimeter of the stadium, wandering aimlessly, looking for a rental car. I bet we covered 3-4 miles of pavement.
