nah...this trick is pretty weak, in my opinion. He writes the 327 while Nick removes the sticker. The receipt doesn't show the number of gumballs (which it could/should have), and they are not actually counted.

Yeah, that part is pretty lame. But what about their guesses on the receipt?

You can see him write the number on the envelope when the sticker is removed. Makes the video part easy. The receipt is obviously made after they write their numbers. (He says their numbers out loud as to tell them to someone hidden from view?) The camera isn't always on him or the gumballs so don't know exactly how he got the receipt into the gumballs. I'm guessing there's someone hidden near or beneath the stand who gets the receipt into the jar. The jar never leaves the table so my guess would be the receipt is inserted into the bottom of the jar through the stand.

The trick is in the stand is my guess. It looks like just a table with a narrow support but I'm guessing it's mirrored and someone can hide from view under it. The hidden accomplice hears him say the numbers, punches them into whatever they're using to make the receipt and then insert it into the jar through the bottom while the mentalist distracts everyone with his shtick.

My guess is actually some sort of bluetooth printer on the inside of the top of the jar of gumballs. If you look closely, it appears that the "receipt" is laying on top of the gumballs after he takes the lid off. Maybe Nick was in on it and pretended to fish down in the bottom.

Edit: Also, the way that he takes the lid off the jar is shady, which makes me think a printer is up there.

Agreed. It was so obvious that he wrote on the envelope. Overall, pretty lame.
