Great nicknames in sports (1 Viewer)

Jared Lorenzen should have had a lengthier NFL career just because of the nickname "Pillsbury Throwboy"
This is the one I came here to post. An all time great.

Saw Tobias already mentioned "Thor" for Syndergaard, another perfect one.

"Big Sexy" works for Bartolo Colon

One of my favorites was "The Mexicutioner" for Joakim Soria during his awesome run with the Royals.

There was an NBA 7-footer from the 1970s and 1980s named Marvin Webster.  One college season at Morgan State he averaged 8 blocks a game, and he was named "The Human Eraser".

Back in the early days of the Timberwolves, they had a reserve forward named Marlon Maxey who might have had the lowest BKBIQ of any pro I've ever seen play.  It was clear watching him on the court that he didn't know the plays on offense, and didn't grasp the concept of trap-and-rotate on defense.  My friends and I called him "The Walking Question Mark".  Given that Maxey didn't last, I declare that nickname a free agent and available to be attached to a pro athlete who is, umm, "not too swift with the playbook".

MMA still has a bunch of nicknames where it's been much less prevalent in football outside of the few already mentioned. In MMA I always thought "Mighty Mouse" was appropriate for the flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.

Outside of nicknames, there was a LBer who played at Notre Dame in the late 1980's named Michael Stonebreaker who seemed to have the perfect name for his position without need of a nickname.
