Been doing some initial homework this evening. My initial thoughts …

… Some really good shows are not going to make my list.
… There are a few limited series that I’ve been putting off and need to watch over the next week.
… It is going to be very hard not to spotlight but this is as good a place as any to remind not to do it.

I'm torn. I initially said 5 shows but if you think about about a show that just changes the cast...it's still the same show. So gun to my head...1 show.

You mean separate lists. Thought about it but I like the idea of the overall list and it’s less complicated this way. We can have separate threads for more specific genres at some point but an overall list would be really cool to have.

I also like the challenge it presents in ranking everything.

Yeah I think there are only a few examples like True Detective where one season blows the others away so it shouldn’t be that bad.

I just did a preliminary google search on television shows just to get some ideas and a feel for what I was getting into.

This is gonna be much harder than I thought. Should I include cartoons from my childhood? Stupid sitcoms I loved as a teenager? Should I just focus on my current tastes?

Also, I haven't watched a lot of shows many think are some of the greatest ever. I'm going to skew the rankings and I'm going to get crucified for it.

Yeah I’m at just over 100 and about ready to whittle down, AKA the hard part.

My criteria is probably going to be 70% current tastes and 30% personal all timers that may not hold up as well.

I won't participate, but given the amount of variety and volume, I think this kind of thread/list/ranking would lend itself to a bracket competition.

Get 64 shows, do a tourney, and vote on each matchup. Otherwise, there's just way too much volume and subjectivity on what's important.

Yea seems like an odd line to draw. I think I will only have one reality show on my list if that, for it's not really my thing.

Made a first pass last night. Have 105 shows. Definitely am missing some though that will make my final list - and some of those 105 are not particularly good shows, just shows that I have enjoyed at one point or another
